My cat is missing and I'm so sad

Cass is missing. She's been gone since Tuesday. Reports from two neighbours that they heard a cat fight on Tuesday night. I've searched the park and field next to our house and called and called. I've registered her as missing on her microchip and posted on tonnes of fb pages. I've sent a message out on the local WhatsApp group. I've shared a little further afield as we have builders in. She's not been at all bothered about the building work so it's not that she's been scared by them. I've got everyone checking their home cameras.
It's so out of her routine. She's a glutton and loves her food but also spends most of the day and/or night playing in the field with her litter sister who lives a few doors down.
I'm going to go back out tonight when it's dark with a torch. Please send good vibes to get her home.

Oh no! I hope you find her soon, and that she’s all right. She’s pretty.

Ryansmrs · 12/10/2023 13:14

I'm so sorry to hear about your beautiful cat. I'm not a cat owner so don't have any advice but I'll be praying she's home safe soon x

Pop some of your clothing and her litter tray outside - it can help them scent their way home. Two of mine have gone missing before - one for three days and one for four - nobody saw them at all and we thought the worst - but they both turned up very close to home and absolutely fine.

One was in a neighbours garden - the neighbour poked her out of a bush with a stick while I tried to bribe her with cheese Grin the other was in the neighbours shed behind an old lawnmower - DH had to go in and retrieve him as he just sat there shouting instead of actually coming to either of us Hmm

Has she cloned into a builders van? Got stuck in any exposed pipes?

Lorddenning1 · 12/10/2023 14:00

Your missing cat has been posted in my local Facebook group, hope she is found soon.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 12/10/2023 14:31

A lot of them aren’t that far they go stealth and you can’t find the little sods.

I hope she turns up soon.

I've posted in the areas where they went to directly from ours. No exposed pipes or areas she can climb into. ☹️

Thank you. I've posted in so many groups and people have been messaging me but none of the found ones are mine x

Thank you. She's quite vocal so I keep thinking I should have heard her.
My neighbour has just been round and said she's walked the field again, spoken to some dog walkers and showed the photo of her and also spoken to another neighbour. My friend is printing off some posted for us to put through doors and post on lampposts x

So sorry OP, it's an awful thing to be going through. You have good advice from other posters, but just wanted to give you some hope: last summer my gorgeous girl went missing. Previously an indoor cat and I'd just moved to the area so thought even if she was still alive, she may not find her way back. Put posters up, knocked on doors, nothing - until she strolled in and ate dinner as normal on day 10! To this day I have no idea where she was. Do try and keep positive. No news is usually good news when they go missing. Thinking of you.

AnneElliott · 12/10/2023 15:17

Ah op I know how you feel. Definitely put the litter tray at the bottom of the garden to try and let the scent go out so she can smell home.

And I'd suggest going out and calling her late at night when it's quiet so you can hear her reply to you. That's how I found one of mine as I couldn't hear her during the day.

The other one was found via FB. Keep up with the sharing. Lost pets Uk I think I used.

Igmum · 12/10/2023 16:02

Sending love, it's terrifying when this happens (our girl was missing for a long weekend one summer, she's a terror for getting shut into small spaces). They are often very close so if your neighbours are nice search their gardens with a fine toothcomb. When calling make sure you walk towards your home rather than away and yes to smelly clothes and the contents of the vacuum cleaner in your garden. Good luck 🤞

IDidntKnowMyOwnStrength · 12/10/2023 16:06

Really hope she turns up safe and sound.
I have a tracker on one of my cats that likes to roam, it's a godsend, l always know where he is. It has given me peace of mind after many sleepless nights.

Blingstar · 12/10/2023 16:20

I hope you find her safe and well. What a worry.

@IDidntKnowMyOwnStrength can you recommend the tracker you use. Everything I've looked at seems very bulky. And mixed reviews.

plumtreebroke · 12/10/2023 16:28

We had one that disappeared a few times, I spent nights out searching for her and had given up once, but she turned up days later smelling really bad I think she'd been down a fox hole or something. Also had one bolt up a tree when chased by a dog, took her a long time to come down, going up is easy, down not so much, but at least I could see her. Hopefully yours was just scared and bolted and will find her way home soon. Good luck.

CatChant · 12/10/2023 16:34

Have you knocked on your neighbours’ doors and asked them to check their sheds and garages?

Two of ours have managed to get themselves locked in neighbouring outhouses in the past.

Hope she is safely home soon. It is horrible when they go missing.

HurryHomeCass · 12/10/2023 21:03

Just posted out 40 posters through doors and on lampposts

Is she home yet. ?
Fingers crossed that she will be home soon.
I don't know how true it is, but I read on here that when cats go missing they go into survival mode, and go very quiet So you could be calling her and she won't answer. The advice is also to go out late and take a torch.Their eyes reflect.
My cat is always missing but he's a quarter of a mile away every time, so we know roughly where he is !! Good luck🤞😻

MerylSqueak · 13/10/2023 15:45

One of my cats came home after a spell away when I hung the sheets if the bed she usually sleeps on out in the garden.

HurryHomeCass · 13/10/2023 16:13

No sign of her as yet. I've rung some places today to see if she has been handed in. No luck. My neighbour is going to print some more posters and another neighbour is going to deliver them through doors.

My cat is missing too, been 2 nights now, like you have put up posters, knocked on doors & walked the streets with the dreamies box. She's never disappeared before.
I am loosing hope :(

I'm sorry to hear that. It's so hard isn't it? I'm the same. I've kind of given up because hoping is so painful.
Then today I've seen on fb someone reunited after 6 years.
In fact there's several posts saying 'home now, just turned up'
I hope, for both of us, that that is our result x

@HurryHomeCass
It's awful isn't it.
I'm in such a state. I'm beginning to lose hope a bit too & its very cold here today.
Let's keep everything crossed 🤞
