My cat is missing and I'm so sad

Cass is missing. She's been gone since Tuesday. Reports from two neighbours that they heard a cat fight on Tuesday night. I've searched the park and field next to our house and called and called. I've registered her as missing on her microchip and posted on tonnes of fb pages. I've sent a message out on the local WhatsApp group. I've shared a little further afield as we have builders in. She's not been at all bothered about the building work so it's not that she's been scared by them. I've got everyone checking their home cameras.
It's so out of her routine. She's a glutton and loves her food but also spends most of the day and/or night playing in the field with her litter sister who lives a few doors down.
I'm going to go back out tonight when it's dark with a torch. Please send good vibes to get her home.

Our local Harvey's army and strays page are really proactive. If hers local they will find her. I've also shared to any area our builders visited after us just to be sure. Thank you xxx

@HurryHomeCass
It's awful isn't it.
I'm in such a state. I'm beginning to lose hope a bit too & its very cold here today.
Let's keep everything crossed 🤞

It's rained all day by us. She would normally be in after ten mins shouting at us about the rain 😭

My cat went missing when she was 4 months old, it was 4 days before she returned.
This is what we did, let the local vets know and they posted it on their fb page.
Paid to advertise on pets reunited website.
Posted leaflets through doors as far as I could I also offered a reward.
I left her cat tray and blankets in the front garden and left a tin of sardines out.
I went out at 1am ish as it is quieter then, I assumed she was scared so not likely to come out if it was noisy.

My cat returned at midnight, I woke up to find her standing on me.
I understand how you feel and it is awful. Hopefully your kitty is not far away just scared and hiding.
Keeping everything crossed she returns very soon.

Aww, I am so sorry @HurryHomeCass I hope she comes home soon. 5 days missing now doesn't sound good, and the more time that goes by, the less likelihood of Cass returning safely.

BUT, I have known THREE cases this past 2 months of cats going missing for 2-4 weeks and then suddenly returning out of the blue. No-one knows where they were, or who has been feeding them, or if they've been living rough!

5 days missing isn't a massive amount of time, but it will start turning into weeks soon. If she was in a fight, she may have been scared. Probably got scared and legged it.

I pray she will be back soon. 🙏 Sending happy and loving and hopeful vibes.

She is beautiful by the way! ❤

Just to reassure you, my little cat was missing for at least 6 days and returned. She'd shown no interest in the outside world at all, and had never even used the catflap. And then I went away on my first post-lockdown holiday, and she quite clearly hated the woman who came in to feed her and made a bid for freedom a couple of days before I came home. And then didn't come home for the first 5 days I was back. I did the whole poster thing and spent a lot of time wandering around my neighbourhood rattling dreamie packets and calling her name. Eventually, I spotted her in a neighbours garden, and got her within grabbing distance by rattling dreamies. So, she may be holed up relatively close to you, and just a bit stressed..

Faceplantagain · 15/10/2023 18:58

She's now turned into a cat who loves the outdoors, btw, and always leaves the house whenever there are visitors/cat feeders/builders etc. I've never worked out where she goes, but I'm fairly sure it's quite close.

I haven’t read the full thread but you should definitely try putting her cat litter box (if she has one) outside, she will smell the scent.
Also try putting something if yours outside too that hasn’t been recently washed - I put the throw from the couch hanging up outside!
You could try your dressing gown too. Sounds strange but it does work, I did this when my cat went missing and she was back within a day of doing it.

lovelyjubbly888 · 15/10/2023 19:08

I really hope she is home soon, I know exactly how it feels.
No news is good news - as in, no reports of any cats being injured anywhere?
I also rang my local vets and the RSPCA just to check, you could try phoning your local rescues to make sure someone hasn’t picked her up.
In my case my cat never ever went out, she was an older girl who had no interest anymore, but on the rare occasion she did venture out we think she was spooked by another cat and ran off.

Hope she turns up safe and well soon. I've had a few of mine go missing over the years. The not knowing is the worst thing. All mine came home eventually. Flowers

HurryHomeCass · 17/10/2023 10:01

No sign of her. I've done all the recommended things, I've posted on all the fb groups, I've posted leaflets on lampposts and through 200 doors locally. Not even a sighting of her. I've been out looking in the day and at night with a torch. Just nothing.

Oh I am so sorry. It really is an ordeal of worrying when they do this.

If she was very scared she could have run so far away she can’t find the way home so perhaps widen the search area?

My neighbour’s cat vanished for four months after escaping and fleeing on Bonfire Night. He turned up over a mile away having popped through a cat flap and essentially moved himself into another cat’s home - despite the other cat’s objections.

Luckily, the owner eventually spotted one of my neighbour’s posters on a lamp post. They had given up hope by then so it was a good thing the poster was so firmly stuck in place.

I hope you have your beautiful Cass home soon.

@HurryHomeCass Any news on Cass? Been following with everything crossed

No, I've done everything I can. I had a call from someone last Saturday saying she had seen a tortoiseshell cat outside her house about a 8 min walk from mine. I've been out there at different times of day looking for her. I'm still posting on all the local and not so local pages. I'm going to leaflet the area she's possibly been seen in next week. I've been tagged in several photos of torties by strangers so people are thinking of her. Thank you for asking.

Ibravedaflood · 04/11/2023 18:45

My tortie girl went missing for 6 months. Went round to the very local shops one day and she was just sat under a tree! Lady over that way said she had seen her living in a shed and catching food. Not bloody sure how she didn't see the posters at the shops and ring me!
*the woman not dcat.... Rooting for your dcat to get home op.
Have you rang local council? They aren't obliged to scan if they collect any sadly killed but some do. The not knowing is worse than the unsolved ime.

HurryHomeCass · 09/11/2023 20:50

After visiting the site where a cat was spotted every two nights the lady who contacted me sent me a photo of the cat and she's not mine.😞

I am so sorry you had your hopes dashed, OP. I really hope she is home with you soon.

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 09/11/2023 21:05

I’m sorry. I’d be worried sick if mine was missing too.
