Bed time for kittens?

Redleaves15 · 01/09/2023 16:00

What time do your kittens usually go to sleep for the night? Granted they may not sleep through, but when's the first time they seem to go to sleep? Mines 12 weeks and I don't know if I'm keeping her up playing to wear her out for the right time! She gets food at 8 and plays til around 9:30 then I'll take her to her bed

Bedtime? For cats?

I don’t understand. They just go to sleep when they want to.

Katmai · 01/09/2023 16:06

They sleep where and when they want to, whatever time of day or night. There is no bedtime.

amylou8 · 01/09/2023 16:14

Cats do why they like when they like, they don't have a routine. As a rule they're be most active when you're trying to sleep.

Cowlover89 · 01/09/2023 16:15

My cats go to bed when they want.

JorisBonson · 01/09/2023 16:19

Whenever they feel like it. They're not humans!

LouisCatorze · 01/09/2023 16:21

Remember that cats are by nature nocturnal so your kitty may not settle to sleep for long periods during the night. I'm not sure you can sleep train them like human babies.

Soubriquet · 01/09/2023 16:24

Urm….you don’t put them into bed and tuck them up with a story. Cats will sleep where they want, when they want

ladymalfoy45 · 01/09/2023 16:24

This is a hypothetical kitten? Cat tax or your kitten is hypothetical.

CurlewKate · 01/09/2023 16:24

They're nocturnal-although they do sleep a lot. Make sure the space she's in in safe-then just leave her -!: go to bed yourself.

This. Cat tax!

WildFeathers · 01/09/2023 16:28

When ours are little, they go into a large dog crate when we’re out or in bed ourselves. Mostly so they don’t get hurt by our other cats or the dogs. Otherwise they have the run of the house. After a few weeks when they’re settled in and everyone knows them, we just give them the run of the house at all times. When they’ve learnt the cat flap then they’re allowed out!

Hellocatshome · 01/09/2023 16:31

Cat? Bedtime? Yeah thats not a thing.

AnonKat · 01/09/2023 16:32

My cat is more active in the night. You can't make a cat sleep 🤣

erikbloodaxe · 01/09/2023 16:33

It's a cat not a baby. I'd do some research on cats Op as you seem a bit clueless sorry.

GeraldTheGoodMouse · 01/09/2023 16:34

Cats are crepuscular so they are most lively and awake at dawn and dusk, the rest of the time they do what the hell they like flit about interspersed with napping and sleeping. They don't really have or need a bedtime.

eurochick · 01/09/2023 16:36

Hahahaha. Bedtime for cats. It would be like trying to put a onesie on an octopus.

TakeMe2Insanity · 01/09/2023 16:37

😂

Horriblewoman · 01/09/2023 16:40

It’s not that ridiculous, our cats always come to bed with us (so 10ish) and have been doing that such they were kittens so we’re all in the same bedtime routine!

If we stay up late they get quite miffed.

Well yes 1 of my cats comes to bed with me every night and cuddles me until I go to.sleep but he 100% doesnt sleep all night.

TiredandLate · 01/09/2023 16:43

😂

Ours get on our bed for a bit between 10-11pm then it's fighting and general fucking around with a bit of snoozing until dawn when they go batshit for a few hours.. THEN it's bedtime until teatime.

UndercoverCop · 01/09/2023 16:43

Mine is asleep now, sleeps whenever and wherever he wants

🤣 I love this. Our cat is a creature of habit. She meows at us until we go up to bed. She goes to everyone's bedroom then settles on my bed on her blanket. Sometime in the night she wakes up and wanders around and is usually asleep again when I get up. Then she wakes up for breakfast and goes for a nap around 10. Tjen comes down at lunchtime then another nap in the afternoon 😁

Dazedandconfused10 · 01/09/2023 17:23

I go to bed at 10 and my cat comes up to bed around 11/11.30. She has her own routine.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 01/09/2023 17:26

Oh and in defence of the op and solidarity because I sound crazy say this if we say 'Emmy bed' she comes with us 😂

LynetteScavo · 01/09/2023 17:31

I lick my cat in the kitchen over night. He has a bed, but usually prefers to sleep on the table (he's not allowed on the table but doesn't care). He wakes up when we go down in the morning. Sometimes he goes out of the cat flap and jumps through DDs bedroom window to annoy her. He sleeps most of the day so I guess he's awake for a lot of the night.
