Is it normal to feel this way?

I have wanted a British Blue all my life, I never wanted to rush out and get one, I wanted the time to be right, It just so happens that its taken over 30 years to get there lol

I'm single, no kids and work from home, that will not change, I rarely go on holiday and generally only really go out to get my shopping etc so I have the time.

I have everything ready, I have toys, a bed, scratching post, bowls etc etc and a local vet that is five minutes away, I also have the money put aside for the kitten, I have been looking for a long time and today I found him, I'm going to view him on wednesday. I have pics if anyone wants to see!

I'm suddenly panicking thinking I am about to make a big mistake and I genuinely don't know why I feel this way, This is something I have always wanted. Is it normal to feel this way or is it a sign I shouldn't do this?

I do wish MNet had an edit button. Apologies for the typos. He was half BSH. His mother was a cream breeding queen who escaped!

My husband (staunch dog person) and I often talk about how getting our cats is the best thing we’ve ever done. We absolutely adore them!

my only advice would be get two 😁

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 01/08/2023 22:10

He's beautiful 😻

YesItsMeIDontCare · 02/08/2023 15:33

Give him a name that sounds cool when the vet calls you in and doesn't terrify the neighbours when you call him for his supper.

You'll call him "Mummyslillsnoodlefwuffybum" any way 😂

My lad is Leroy RoRoBerry PinklePurr III aka Fluffbum, Fatroy, BoofulBaBa, Whatthefuckinghellareyoudoingyoutwat, et al.

He's gorgeous and so is Leroy!

Harry was Harry, Harold, Baron Harry, Lord Harold, Gummy Bear, Honeybadger, Mummy's Little Superstar, Little Man. And those are just the names I can remember!

I keep thinking of new names and have the same criteria as @YesItsMeIDontCare, does it sound cool at the vets! DH has already vetoed Elvis Harry but he's mean!

TheShellBeach · 02/08/2023 16:13

Oh I'm so glad you got him!

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 02/08/2023 16:31

It's normal to feel like that, I did when the bengal landed. And he landed with a massive thump.

You just adapt to them. Because they wont adapt to you.

Current moggy girl feels no reason to change routine just because she has been rehomed. It is a minor detail.

Saxendi · 02/08/2023 16:51

What a gorgeous kitten!
I'm sure you'll have lots of fun, they are the loveliest cats!

DogDaysAreOverr · 02/08/2023 16:55

Gorgeous! You're going to have the best time together !

CatChant · 02/08/2023 17:03

What a beautiful kitten. So plush and velvety.

Alargeoneplease89 · 02/08/2023 17:14

He's gorgeous, I'm sure you won't regret it, maybe you are just nervous because it's a big commitment which shows you have thought it through.

As PP said above you will have several names for him - not all affectionate 😂
