A picture of girl cat on a local Facebook group saying "does anyone know this cat? Always at my door meowing for food, seems very hungry, may be a stray".

She is neither. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh, dear. But that's cats for you.

Bananas1350 · 12/07/2023 17:26

wish people would educate themselves about cats. But seriously. How does a cat look lost or hungry. They need to start holding up signs to make it easier.

JorisBonson · 12/07/2023 17:26

She's bringing this household down 🤣

At least they didn’t do what someone local to us did and take the apparent ‘stray’ cat to the local vet and after being told the cat was healthy and to put the cat back where it was found, they took the cat to a local rescue. The owner had to wait a couple of days to get their much loved cat back as the rescue was then closed🫣🤪

Cats will do what cats will do😻

cpphelp · 12/07/2023 17:44

I'd just respond 'thanks neighbour. This is Xcat, been our cat for X years. I can assure you they're more than well fed... eating better than I do in fact!
Please don't worry about feeding her, she will be home for her dinner and to sit on my laundry pile soon no doubt

Iamacatslave · 12/07/2023 17:45

We need a photograph of your disgraced cat.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 12/07/2023 17:45

Don't know what's worse, bloody cats on the scrounge, or bloody people who assume every outdoor cat needs to be kidnapped because 'it might be a stray' 😹.

PaniniHead · 12/07/2023 17:47

And ones who post ‘will someone help this poor cat! Poor thing looks starving’.

Those FB posts drive me mad - Especially when it’s a pic of a healthy looking, clearly well fed cat.

Cats are gannets and I know my lot all chance there luck at being fed else where if someone is offering 😄

JorisBonson · 12/07/2023 17:51

Here's the starving orphan being hand fed a prawn.

Obviously she is emancipated and uncared for! Very cute though.

I think one of mine is defecting so I have put a bright collar on him to show he is owned. I'm surprised it's still on after a week as last time I tried he had it off in under 5 minutes. It also has a bell so he now tinkles charmingly as he runs around the house yowling for no reason.

Yes! We once had a post, with a pic of a cat, on our local ‘Nextdoor’ saying -
“Does anyone know this cat? Found it outside on the pavement, and have brought it indoors for safekeeping. It may be lost.”
Well it wasn’t, till you nabbed it, and the owner’s probably wondering where the hell it is now. Infuriating. At least there then followed lots of posts pointing this out!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 12/07/2023 17:58

We had our cat posted 2 days running by the same facebook group, friendly cat, possibly lost, meowing for food.

Nope, just a chancer looking for pets! Jxx

BruceAndNosh · 12/07/2023 18:03

Our cat demands food 2 hours after being fed. We now count out the daily allowance of pouches when he is fed first thing in the morning so that he can't get away with lying

Allergictoironing · 12/07/2023 18:41

Found a rather scruffy & thin looking cat in my front garden the other day, giving me mournful looks. However I happen to know he lives in the house opposite mine, is very loved & spoiled at home, & only looks the way he does because he's pretty old.

PollyCreo · 12/07/2023 20:38

My tabby boy Woody visits my Russian neighbours at 5.30pm every day where they chuck him leftover meat. I have tried to tell them not to feed him but unfortunately my Russian is limited to yes, no and thank you 😅

I only discovered this in May when I was off sick from work and saw him trotting off every evening for his grilled chicken leftovers 🧐

Toddlerteaplease · 12/07/2023 21:32

My parents had to put a collar on their cat saying do not feed. They had to tell him
It said very handsome cat, to get him to keep it on.

This really made me smile!

She's so petite that she slips every collar. She pretended to be a stray years ago and got fed by our elderly neighbour for about 9 months. Must just be reliving her youth.

I had

‘Poor thin cat in a terrible state and can’t even walk properly.’

followed by a hundred irate comments about terrible owners who need to be reported to RSPCA

DCat was 16 and only had 3 legs for 15 of those and ate at least 7 meals a day.

littlbrowndog · 12/07/2023 21:42

My boy does this. He is a star on nextdoor. He has many houses. Our vet has agreed that when he is brought in to be scanned he will be sent home with the person he came in with. My cat is a grifter

littlbrowndog · 12/07/2023 21:45

Yet my other cat does not run about in other peoples houses. Cats 🤣🤣

Oh that’s a wonderful pic. One of our torties featured on FB. A cat sitting on the fence crying and crying. They were concerned it was a stray.
Er no. The cowbag had followed me on a dog walk until she felt she had walked far enough. She then sat and shouted in my general direction until I picked her up on the way home. 🤦‍♀️

bonfirebash · 13/07/2023 01:10

I got a message from the local rescue woman saying someone had reported a scraggy black cat sauntering about like cats do
She said the minute they said sauntering, she knew it was mine Blush
Yes, he was old and a bit scruffy but he was quite happily doing his patrol minding his own business!
