What do we name our new kitten?

Our last beloved cat was called Clarkson, because he was egocentric, bolshy , had a bit of an attitude and wasn't the most photogenic creature. He lived to 12 which given he had a heart condition from birth was pretty good going.
We've had a petless gap of about nine months and have just adopted a new feline leader.
We've thrown quite a few names around but nothing seems to stick/suit.
DS (4) wants to call him whatever is in his line of sight at the time, and DH wants to call him Tabaxi after a species of cat people from his very niche/outing Mumsnet DH hobby Dungeons and Dragons. I think it's a bit much and not something I want to be calling out of the back door.
We don't really want standard Felix, Tigger, fluffy type names.
Any thoughts?

Merlin

He looks like an Egyptian cat so I think Cairo .

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 23/06/2023 22:10

He looks like a Tiger rather than a Tigger.

KirstenBlest · 23/06/2023 22:11

Fierce Brosnan

RiseYpres · 23/06/2023 22:12

OOh I like Tabaxi

WhatDoWeCallHim · 23/06/2023 22:12

Fierce Brosnan is popular so far 😂
His mum was a Bengal so the Egypt comment was accurate!

I thought he must have Bengal in him. He is quite a spectacular looking young Lord.

NuffSaidSam · 23/06/2023 22:14

Mike was my first thought.

RiseYpres · 23/06/2023 22:16

My DS1 is desperate for a kitten. It's not right for a number of reasons (3 others who do NOT get along as it is) but he wishes to name his either Smiler or Russell.

Bobbybobbins · 23/06/2023 22:17

Osiris nickname Os for the Egyptian link?

RiseYpres · 23/06/2023 22:17

Sphynx?

Stix?

Amun-Ra - the most powerful Egyptian God (according to google)

Schlomp · 23/06/2023 22:18

I'd do something around the markings on his head, they're quite beautiful

RiseYpres · 23/06/2023 22:18

Oh no. Styx was a girl

SkankingWombat · 23/06/2023 22:19

Sid, Malcolm or Keith

bluedomino · 23/06/2023 22:19

Robert

Geezer (Giza)

Lesina · 23/06/2023 22:22

He is obviously Jim. Anything else is selling him short. He will always be Jim to me.

Findyourneutralspace · 23/06/2023 22:23

Frodo

potatoes4all · 23/06/2023 22:28

His name is definitely Jerome.

dizzydizzydizzy · 23/06/2023 22:28

Sparky

LuckyPeonies · 23/06/2023 22:30

Leo? Or Dante, Felix, or Thor? He is gorgeous! We had a bengal named Bogart, but we always called him ‘DeeDee’. No idea why. 😀

Suits him 😻

AltitudeCheck · 23/06/2023 22:34

He has a perfect letter M on his forehead, Martin was my first thought! He's gorgeous 😻

RagingWoke · 23/06/2023 22:37

He is gorgeous 😍 I'm trying so hard to resist the temptation of kittens... there's a definite gap after one of ours passed away a few months ago.

I like Tabaxi! What about bahamut for the D&D theme. Osiris, Anubis, ra, Horus for the Egyptian theme.

My 3yo has asked for a kitten and wants to call it velociraptor (or reloshawaptor in 3yo) 😂
