Do your cats have their own theme tunes?

I always hear my cats’ theme tunes when I see them doing certain things.

My black girl is, well, tubby, but loves to run back and forth across the garden and her theme tune is Galloping Home from Black Beauty

My Bengal has real “big cat” traits and when she is lying in the sun surveying all her territory I often hear either the Out of Africa theme or Born Free

The ginger one is a bit sneaky and is often accompanied by Disney villain music; ditto the tabby so sometimes there are two Disneys going on at once

Do other people’s cats also have theme tunes?!

No-but they soon will. Give me a minute.....

mybestchildismycat · 24/05/2023 19:39

Love it.

Mine doesn't have a theme tune, but I have composed many songs about him which I sing to him regularly!

TheoreticalRefusal · 24/05/2023 19:40

I have made up a song for each cat. I sing, they come running. There are four cats.

Then I have a general cat song, sung to the tune of Beyonce's "Single Ladies" which starts "all my kitty catties, all my kitty catties" and occasionally, if no one's watching, we'll dance.

Ceruleanmoon · 24/05/2023 19:47

Yes! I have two cats. One runs and rolls on the grass to 'I'm in a field of dandelions' by Ruth B and the other one moves to 'Moving Forward' by Kevin McLeod.

girlofsandwich · 24/05/2023 20:32

I sing 'Here Come The Girls' in my head when my cat struts into the room

He's a boy

Usernamesarenoteasy · 24/05/2023 20:33

Yes! I have three. I thought it was just mine that had them. My kids think I'm nuts!

Ginger carpet killer amazing huntress: William Tell overture

Blonde neurotic worrier: Somewhere Only we Know (Lily Allen version)

Black dozey laid back grumpy but tolerates anything old tom cat: something by Grateful Dead. Box of Rain?

kwetu · 24/05/2023 21:04

My head always plays Vader's tune from Star Wars when my cat comes stalking into the room

MrDrEvilPorkChopToYou · 24/05/2023 21:06

Aw, what lovely theme tunes they all have. They probably despise us for it…

Cheddar has Cheddy, Cheddy, cool by Boney M

Staying at my DP's once, his Norwegian Forest Cat came into the bedroom strutting her stuff,... Practically to the tune from The King and I where Anna is introduced to the children. DP's Floof came in to the staccato bit where the Crown Prince comes in.

Harry had Super Trouper by ABBA with his own special lyrics.

I'm a super scooper with my pooper scooper
Scooping in the sun
Scooping having fun
'Cos Harry's done a number one

I'm a super scooper with my pooper scooper
But I won't be blue
Scooping like I do
'Cos somewhere in the tray is poo

Mine always comes bouncing up the garden when I call her and always to the theme tune from Little House on the Prairie

WildFlowerBees · 25/05/2023 11:33

Boy cat is 50 cent P.I.M.P Girl cat is Winnie the Pooh Hungry Song.

vicaragechristmas · 25/05/2023 11:49

Yes, one cat (two syllable name) has both Lollipop (changed to "[his name]-cat") and also the hymn Holy Holy Holy (again, changed to [His name]).

Other cat doesn’t have a theme song but she does have a line from a Julia Donaldson book which is recited at her, with her name replacing the original!

My previous cat was Monty and he had "Little Monty" sung at him to the tune of Little Donkey

vicaragechristmas · 25/05/2023 11:50

I should add, my DC also has a number of theme tunes, less frequently sung now than in babyhood, so it is a family trait 😂

VillageLite · 25/05/2023 11:55

Yes! So pleased to hear other people do this!
The young one is The Flumps and the old man has always been Oh Susannah.

justasoul · 25/05/2023 11:58

Oooh I’d never thought about it but now I’m thinking How soon is now? as they’re named after the Charmed ones Smile

Shortpoet · 25/05/2023 12:03

Mine have a few songs.

“I fell in love with a midnight pooper
I scooped it up with a pooper scooper”.

“Yummy yummy yummy I’ve got cat food in my tummy.
Felix chunks in jelly, very very smelly”

and

“Kitty, kitty kitty kitten ah-ah-ah-ah-ah”
to the tube of Ruby by the Ksiser chiefs.

SmashedApricot · 25/05/2023 12:13

When I had a ginger tabby his tune was tiger from ABBA ." People who fear me never come near me , I am a tiger tiger 😆 He was as soft as shit . 😂 yes I sang it to him x

SmashedApricot · 25/05/2023 12:16

The Siamese over the road , yep "we are Siamese if you please , we are Siamese if you don't please , I'm a former resident of Siam, there is no finer cat than I am ! ". He sits on the wall and I've heard loads of people sing it to him .

VillageLite · 25/05/2023 12:19

Also having their fur brushed has a special tune - The boy does nothing, by Alesha Dixon.

Tidsleytiddy · 25/05/2023 12:23

My cat has licked some fur off from around his bum. I sing to him “ I see you baby, with a bald asss, with a bald asss”

Bagpuss1200 · 25/05/2023 12:23

My cat is called gizmo and when she walks into the room I sing along to Bohemian Rhapsody but I change the words to 'I see a little silhouette of a cat, gizzy moo gizzy moo do you do the fandango" I'm just going to take myself off to the funny farm now...............
