Meet Pete

It's seven weeks tomorrow since we lost my little Harry Puss and, after a lot of soul searching and a few false starts we have been approved to adopt Pete and we collect him next Saturday. He's following in big paws but he can do it!

This is the picture from his advert online. We're not sure if he'll remain as Pete but we can't think of anything else at the moment.

Meet Pete

Congratulation PinkSparkly!

He does look a bit like a Pete. Where did he come from in the end?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 22/05/2023 13:06

Congrats Pink.
Definitely team Pete here. It's a great name for a cat. What's his backstory?

KirstenBlest · 22/05/2023 13:08

I think he should be Peter on the BC so he'll have more options. Who knows, he might turn out to be a high (court) judgy cat.

007DoubleOSeven · 22/05/2023 13:09

You can't call a cat Pete!

Besides, he's too pretty to be a Pete.

MarisPiper92 · 22/05/2023 13:15

I think he's a Pete (I knew a cat called Steve once). Congratulations OP, he's lovely.

Pixiedust1234 · 22/05/2023 13:17

Hello Pete 😍

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 22/05/2023 13:18

Pete is from Stray Cat Rescue Team West Midlands so has a bit of a journey on Saturday. His lovely foster mum is meeting us halfway to save DH having to do a 6 hour drive with his bad leg.

Pete was a stray who wandered into one of their volunteer's gardens and has been a love bug ever since he arrived. He looks a bit battled scarred bless him as he had an abscess on his cheek, his nose is scarred and the top of his ear looks like it's missing. He won't have to fight for anything any more.

We'll probably keep his name as Pete as DH has vetoed my suggestions of Elvis and Bruce!

Oh...I remember you. Dare I ask what happened with Eddie?

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 22/05/2023 13:23

It was a hard decision but we said no as there would be too many exclusions to insure him. Harry's vet bills ran into thousands and we were worried that even putting money away each month wouldn't be enough. I also think is was too soon for both of us. His foster parents adored him so at least we knew he was loved.

Omg Pete looks so gorgeous 😊 Please keep the name - it so suits him!

CatChant · 22/05/2023 13:27

Oh I like Pete for him. He has a rather piratical air. I hope he has a very happy retirement from buccaneering.

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/05/2023 13:29

Aww he’s lovely. I hope he has a long, happy life with you op.

Pixiedust1234 · 22/05/2023 13:30

Understand that completely and sorry for asking. Pete looks adorable. I do like older human names for pets. Our fluffball was Dottie (or Dorothea if naughty 😂).

YetAnotherSpartacus · 22/05/2023 13:31

Congratulations!

caringcarer · 22/05/2023 13:34

Just a thought but I think Cats Protection League marks a cat on the top of its ears if it has been caught and neutered.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 22/05/2023 13:34

Don't worry @Pixiedust1234, I was upset at the time as I felt mean leaving Eddie but it was too much of a risk. Having met his foster parents I think he might be better off there than with us! As soft as we are (Harry would have disagreed!) they were softer!

Pete is a great name! Welcome little Pete!

Don't they all?!

He's Petey on his adoption form but we've dropped the 'y'. It sounds as though the general consensus is that he is Pete!

Gorgeous! I love human names for cats (and dogs - I recently met a daschund called Derek), so I say keep Pete.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 22/05/2023 13:50

I love Derek the daschund!

Aww his little face..

I hope you and Pete (or whatever new name he gets) enjoy a long and happy life.

Defiantlynot41 · 22/05/2023 14:31

I love him Pink, and the name suits him perfectly. How old is he.? (You may have said, disappeared from my head already!)

He has landed on his paws coming to you

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 22/05/2023 14:42

They think Pete is about 4, although he's a stray so it's only a best guess.

I've now got him insured, registered with the vet and DH is putting mesh over the bedroom window and has ordered a screen for the French doors. I can't think of anything else we need to do to get ready for him!

I love Derek the daschund!

Like all daschunds, he will take your adoration as his birthright 😉

AllTheOtherCats · 22/05/2023 14:47

Yay! As I said, I'd seen your posts on Graduates (I actually recognised your description of Harry before anything else!) and wondered who you had your eye on. Petey looks so sweet, bless him. So pleased for you Smile
