Goodbye Ollie

I've been posting on here since I adopted him in 2015 and tomorrow I say goodbye to him
Nothing dramatic but he's having repeated cystitis and it's just time, even if it is slightly too early. I want him to go in a dignified way, not rushed or too late because I love him so fiercely

He's purring away on my lap. I couldn't not adore him, he's my pet and it's my job

I've already had cat rescues message to say how sorry they are and that they are there when I'm ready. I can't imagine being without him, but then I also can't imagine not having a cat around so as soon as the right one gets sent to me I'll be ready

So sorry to read this. This is the worst part of being a cat slave but also the kindest thing. I loved Ollie's antics over the years. Will be thinking of you both tomorrow.

He was the best cat for you, and you were the best mum he could have had. He clearly adored and trusted you, and you are fulfilling that trust he had in the most important and selfless way possible.

You'll know when the time and cat is right, not to replace him as that wouldn't be possible, but to share your home and love with another who needs you the way Ollie needed you.

When I had to put my beloved Mr B down several years ago, one of the veterinary nurses said to me "Go to a cafe and have cake. Celebrate his life." I thought that a lovely way to remember a much-loved pet.
