Goodbye Ollie

I've been posting on here since I adopted him in 2015 and tomorrow I say goodbye to him
Nothing dramatic but he's having repeated cystitis and it's just time, even if it is slightly too early. I want him to go in a dignified way, not rushed or too late because I love him so fiercely

Thank you, I am. He's being looked after by my friend at the crematorium

I am so sorry. Your lovely Ollie had such a distinctive, character-filled little face I always recognised him whatever name you were wearing to post. I think I would have known him if he had turned up on my doorstep.

Be kind to yourself. It is hard to say goodbye to such a dearly-loved friend even when you know it is the right thing to do.

Take care Kyse. Ollie was a one-off and your incredible connection was obvious for all to see. Well done for doing the right thing for him, despite the terrible pain it causes.

He has sent me another cat (thanks Ollie) who is being vetted on Friday so paws crossed
Will never replace him but I have another void weirdo (new cat is scared of birds....) to pour love into
Ollie was fostered in 2015 by X. Turns out X left and set up her own charity. New cat is from her charity so it feels totally right

I can't wait to see the photos of the new void weirdo!

That's lovely your friend is looking after Ollie at the crematorium.
As for Shady, he looks like another character. He will never be a replacement for Ollie but he will fill another space in your heart. There are always cats in rescues looking for new homes and this one appears to be just right.

Yes paws has been and met the new cat
Shady has already stopped him coming in the window and done a very Ollie "you are peasant cat" face at him
He loves playing fetch, belly rubs and head butting me and is healing my heart while being strangely like Ollie

Aw what a sweetheart. His coat looks like velvet. That's funny he's acting like Ollie and good to hear he's helping you heal.
He looks quite settled in.

Shady is just a heart melter. Desperately sweet.
