My friend was adamant he wasn't getting a cat. He's got two and is besotted with them. He's also desperate for them to love him. He loves it when his priest secretary is away as they sleep on his bed. (One of them is very noisy at night and secretary doesn't like being woken up) His relationship with them is just the cutest thing.

My husband does a great falsetto when he talks to the cats!

One of my friends used to be a priest secretary to a Bishop but she didn't actually share a room with him like yours seems to! She went home every night to her own cats

@Dilbertian he is a bishop. He had a priest who lives with him. As that is what they do. Bishop has one floor if the house. Secretary has rooms on second floor. Both sleep alone! It's the normal dry up in the RC church.

It's the cats who he wants in his room at night! Not the secretary!

Secretary objects to the noise one car makes at night. So cat has to stay downstairs, at night.

Heard from upstairs yesterday:

'No, none of your purring, missy. And rubbing. And - yes, you're lovely, yes you are - no, you need to get on and have some kittens.'

But I'm definitely the one who has cats. Nothing to do with DH. Naturally not. Not even the latest little foster mum.

my husband...who in the dim and distant past HATED cats and thought them 'nasty, scratchy bitey bastards' says this to our old ginger lad

"Is that my lovely baby-man-cat-boy? Do you want a lovely prawny? Daddy has bought lovely prawnies for his baby-man. Yum yum' etc etc

He's hard as nails and struggles with empathy but with our old lad he is butter...

Here is our 'aud lad'...he is 18 and still keeps himself lovely and clean. A bit creaky in his back end but enjoys his food and the fireside

DH used to sing and play the piano for our previous cat. Cat used to sit happily on the piano and gaze at DH.
Current cats are afraid of the piano.
DH is sad about this.
