Hi all. So we have collected our boys today. I have had cats all my life but have always adopted oldies, because i'm a soft touch, these 2 though are 8 weeks old!!
I'd be grateful for any hints, tips and advice from any wise cat owners on here as to making the most of our new additions.
(Attached is the obligatory photo) Smile

1 pic isn't enough tax. Isn't even 1 each ffs!!

helloisitmeyourelookingfor · 19/02/2023 16:09

Little sleepy heads!

All kittens go through a psychopath stage that starts at around 12 weeks and ends at around 18 months

This does not mean they are defective but may mean you want to send them back Grin

Enjoy the sleepy kitten stage while it lasts

Apologies for my absolutely shite photo tax. I cannot get the little buggers to look at me simultaneously without one being like a sort of freakish cartoon smudge. I vow to keep trying (once they are awake, but bear in mind kittens sleep for at least 20hrs out of 24 apparently) and shall humbly post more photos when i have achieved peak cat photography. Grin

So sort of like kids then but a whole lot cuter (and fluffier) Wink

And are they moggies or posh cats?
We need to know (with more photos please) 🤣

Yep, one grey, one black, brothers. As to posh their mum is a Russian Blue and their dad was a BSH. Dunno if that makes them posh or more of a poor relative. HmmSmile

I have a grey and a black sibling pair too Definitely not posh in our case (Battersea mogs), but a very good colour combination 😁.
Lovely looking kittens OP.

They are currently asleep in the shelf under my computer table so taking any sort of decent photo is a bit tricky, can't tell where one ends and the other starts. As soon as they wake/get up i shall David Bailey the heck out of them although it will probably be more Brooklyn Beckham skill level

Yep, i couldn't care less about their breeding. I'm just so chuffed and in awe of the fact that i've actually got them.
And thank you all for the lovely compliments.

Great names! Look forward to pics.

Breeding matters not one jot. The point is that kittens are the highest of all beings!

CatChant · 19/02/2023 17:45

Beautiful plush little kittens!

Kittens sleep a lot, eat like horses, climb curtains, and scratch furniture and carpets. So they are super destructive but you will be so smitten you will not care very much.

Squeeeeee!! Beautiful kitties!

mathanxiety · 19/02/2023 17:59

Get them spayed/ neutered when they get to three pounds if not already done.

Don't let them outside until then.

mathanxiety · 19/02/2023 18:01

Gorgeous little overlords!

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 19/02/2023 18:03

Sooooo cute!!

Lots of toys needed. We have a 6 month old (as well as our older two) who we adopted at 10lbs. I bought a huge bag of all different sensory balls for him although they all love them.

Hugely necessary as he is an absolute monster when I'm on teams calls vying for my attention!!

Kittens need a lot of stimulation, good that you have brothers though as hopefully they will keep each other entertained!

Beamur · 19/02/2023 18:05

Gorgeous!
Prepare to be shredded.
Avoid the temptation to play using your hands. Get lots of toys and boxes, scrunched up paper etc. Rotate toys to keep interest.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 19/02/2023 18:06

Yup - exceedingly cute 👍.

Your life will of course now be turned upside down. However, getting two is much easier than getting one, so you've made the right decision.
In terms of advice, I'd suggest you feed them whatever the breeder was feeding them to start with, and also use the same litter. Don't start to change either until they have been with you at least a few weeks and are settled in.

Mumdiva99 · 19/02/2023 18:07

Beautiful kitties. Congratulations. No advice really. Except of course spay and chip. Watch every little hole....ours got in the kitchen cupboards and behind the back of them.....there is a space at the top.....so learn how to take the kickboard off to rescue them.
Don't shut any drawer in the house without checking for a kitten.....ours would curl up and sleep in the one below if the kids left a drawer open.
Do not leave any windows or doors open.
Enjoy them.

Eastereggsboxedupready · 19/02/2023 18:10

Empty cardboard box with several dkitten sized holes in make the best entertainment ime.
