Okay so maybe he's not actually super intelligent. But, he figures out all the puzzle toys in a matter of minutes. Does anyone have any top ideas to keep an intellectual moggy entertained?

Have you seen those floor buttons - they have them on Amazon.

You can record on each one to say a word such as "out" or "food" or "now".

They are really for dogs but apparently some cats are able to use them (to help you serve them better)

Does he go out? He should find all the stimulation he needs outside. Perhaps he would like a friend?

Giraffapuses · 08/02/2023 19:51

@Mosaic123 thanks we will try that.
@thecatneuterer Sadly we live in a flat so he's a house cat for now. He's only 2 and we hope to have our own home with a garden before he's 3. But until the , I need to keep him stimulated at much as possible.

Our boy has FELV, so cannot go outside. He's also fairly bright, and very energetic, so we do a lot of entertaining.

We recently got a Catit Groovy Fish, and it is a massive hit. He will wrestle with it for hours!

BlueKaftan · 10/02/2023 16:30

Does he have a cat condo to climb? And a banana cat nip toy? Cats love to climb!

larchforest · 10/02/2023 16:32

Cardboard boxes. A variety of different shapes and sizes, with handy cut-out holes. They are a winner in this house.

myveryownelectrickitten · 10/02/2023 16:33

Following — as we also have a super intelligent puss (a young and active Burmese indoor cat) and could do with some new ideas!

DontStopMeNow7 · 10/02/2023 16:34

My cat is very intelligent and his favourite toy is the feather on a stick thing. He loves hiding in boxes.

Cat trees by windows are good. I recommend Cat Mojo book and YouTube channel by Jackson Galaxy.

AuntieJoyce · 10/02/2023 16:37

Is he gifted and talented?

Following. My cat loves to go out but not this time of year when it’s chilly round the old fluffy bum. I’d rather come up with better ideas than her clicking the stair carpet until it’s bald

BonjourCrisette · 10/02/2023 16:38

Mine is endlessly fascinated by this sort of thing. Interestingly, a cat I met on holiday was utterly bored by cat apps so it clearly depends on the cat!

Zoutdroopje · 10/02/2023 16:44

Have you tried clicker training? Look on YouTube. Keeps him entertained for hours.

My cat loves tunnels, including a cardboard one. He also got a small ‘caravan’ pop up tent for Xmas that he loves.

He loves chasing a plush worm on a fishing rod. He is very tactile and loves the noise it makes on the stairs and when dragged over the tunnels.

He also likes chasing and catching smallish foam balls. He can with his paws and play ‘fetch’.

He uses his cat tree a lot to look out of the window.

lilao · 10/02/2023 17:37

Have you got the Nina Ottosson cat toys? The raindrop one keeps my very clever one busy for 10 minutes or so!

Bogiesaremyonlyfriend · 10/02/2023 17:41

My kitten loves playing with bubbles, keeps her entertained and she has figured out how to 'ask' for more with meows. A shoe box filled with an egg box and cut up toilet tubes then filled with toys and treats keeps her mind busy too.

I tried blowing bubbles for my cat thinking he would love them & chase them, instead he hissed & ran upstairs, he is petrified of them 😂aren't cats funny

larchforest · 10/02/2023 17:50

I keep catnip in a lidded plastic box, and store the cat toys in there for a few days. It refreshes the catnip smell, and they love it when their toy mice and other furry whatsnames have been in there. They even recognise the sound of me clicking the box open now.

🤣🤣 yes! Mine goes absolutely nuts for them!! Chirruping and chasing them for ages!! She even cuddles the bottle when they aren't being blown and will bring it to me to ask for them!!

This is not a great picture, but we have three cardboard boxes open on the ends and adjoining each other in the hall way. The cats love to run through them at speed and hide in them. They frequently collapse them, but it only takes a moment to set them right again. This is very popular at our house.

Help me entertain my super intelligent cat.

We do this too. We call it Boxland.
It is ever-evolving, as in, we swap newer boxes In for a bit of variety. And they have a tunnel between them.

And sometimes they get some biscuits in there as a surprise.

Have you tried hiding food, or puzzle feeders?

MissConductUS · 10/02/2023 19:31

Yes, we have a Donald Trump cat toy that we keep in a jar of catnip. We put it in the tunnel and they run in and kill it. 😂

To be fair, we put other catnip-infused toys in there too, I just love using the Trump one.

Twinklenoseblows · 10/02/2023 19:34

Clicker train him like you would a dog. My old cat could sit, lie down, stand on his back paws, roll over and shake paws.

You could look at an exercise wheel too.

Theunamedcat · 10/02/2023 19:40

Has anyone tried a running wheel for indoor cats?

Theunamedcat · 10/02/2023 19:41

My cat fell on this and broke it 😑 he currently has the tube one

RandomMess · 10/02/2023 19:50

@Theunamedcat so your cat isn't intelligent seeing as though he FELL 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Sounds like a planned attack to me!
