Okay so maybe he's not actually super intelligent. But, he figures out all the puzzle toys in a matter of minutes. Does anyone have any top ideas to keep an intellectual moggy entertained?

Have you see this? Apparently it will be on YouTube after - a Ted Talk on enrichment activities for your cat by the Cat Protection behaviour manager. I think she has written other stuff on enrichment too

Mine has 2 tunnels, a little pop up tent, a crinkly bag with his toys in, a cardboard box on the go until he's finished tearing it to shreds and many ping pong balls. Oh and a motorised wand toy and several feathers on rods. And a scratching post that he can stretch right up on. Yes, he's spoilt. 🤣 He also very much enjoys hide and seek and playing chase.

Do you have a balcony or just windows, OP?

You can get a catio for a balcony, or if that is too expensive especially for a short term home, put him out there in a secure cat carrycase for a little while each day. It will be like a little cave for him and protect him from the elements. You can put a little butter on his paws or a few treats in with him to settle him at first. He will love the outdoor sights, sounds and smells, fresh air and passing birdlife or squirrels.

For a window, try to have it slightly open (but locked into that position so he can't escape) or put up some cat mesh. He can still get the outdoor senses and some fresh air that way.

For either balcony or windows, put up some bird feeders if you can as he'll find the visitors very interesting and stimulating - but without being able to hurt them.

Our cat is indoor but has access to the garden. He loves watching the birds and squirrels feed from our windows and gets very excited, without being able to hurt them. We cat it the Catevision.

I love the box of catnip idea. Also the Boxland.

My foster cat likes chasing this round, & he’s even got pretty good at freeing it if it gets stuck.

Mine's got a catnip Boris. Boris is, ofcourse, yesterday's news now. ( The cat isn't stupid 🤣) I used to enjoy it when she used to savage him though.

One of mine loved hunting for treats in a cardboard box with holes in. I could practically see his brain working as he tried to get them out.

The next one just ripped the box open & got them out that way. Both methods worked….

I keep catnip in a lidded plastic box, and store the cat toys in there for a few days. It refreshes the catnip smell, and they love it when their toy mice and other furry whatsnames have been in there. They even recognise the sound of me clicking the box open now.

I do this too , I use a old jam jar it's got a few proper cat toys and scraps of cloth ping pong balls and string in it I swap things around about once a week.

My kitten absolutely loves a bell threaded on to a couple of pipe cleaners. It's light enough for her to pick it up and she plays fetch with it for hours at a time.

I do exactly this, my furry monster is also a house cat so at least once per day he yells at me to let him into his carrier., I hold it at shoulder hight and he springs into it ! and like pp I throw some food out for the birds , which are mostly pigeon, magpie, starling , crow and gull so a right noisy bunch .
Dcat loves it

I love the look of the Nina Ottotson cat toys. Will definitely get something like this for mine. I think he'd love it.
