A slight update regarding Peppa the kitten

Hi guys

It is me, softplayfail the owner of little orphan Peppa. I had my phone thrown in the bath by my little toddler of delight and I have a new one. Unfortunately I couldn't remember the password or email address so thought fuck it and started a new one

We had a bereavement in the family hence the long delay in replying.
Unfortunately I have returned with a sad update

Bingo was still hiding under the wardrobe and we managed to tempt him out. We noticed he was very bloated and very quiet so we rang our vets who thought he might have worms. Unfortunately he had FIV more than likely passed on from his mother and there was no outward symptoms except the bloating which only really appeared overnight almost. They did an ultrasound of his belly and plenty of bloods and exams but he had blood in his tummy and we decided to let him go. We were and still are absolutely distraught and I am amazed at how much a small bundle of fluff wormed his way into my heart overnight

As for Peppa...
He is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen and he is off to the vets on Wednesday for his neutering. Or as we call it Peppas day out so he doesn't get suspicious.
He's crazy. Almost 2 kilos now.
I have posted some photos of Peppa

I was wanting to update for a while but Christmas with a toddler and a kitten was well manic

Oh OP, you really have been through the mill. So sorry about your family bereavement and about poor little Bingo. I hope life is calming down for you now.

Peppa is still beautiful. I am sure he still makes you happy and I hope his day out is as stress-free as possible.

MrAloysiusSnuffleupagus · 09/01/2023 16:12

I’m sorry for your losses of both a family member and Bingo Flowers

I didn’t see your other thread but I’m a sucker for a cute cat picture. Peppa is smiling in his sleep in that last picture so he is obviously very happy in his new home! I hope he helps heal your heart, he’s such a cutie.

peppareturns · 09/01/2023 16:19

Thank you. He was only with us for a short while but we miss him

Once my husband is home I'm gonna get him to send me the few photos we have of him so I can share him with you

So sorry about Bingo. But at least his last days were filled with love. And he had a family who adored him. Glad Peppa is doing well.

Mañanarama · 09/01/2023 16:50

So sorry to hear this, what an awful time you’ve had. Happy that Peppa is still bringing you joy, though. Here are your first two threads for anyone wondering:

Oh peppy, that’s sad for your family. We once had to let a very sick foster-kitten go at only six weeks old, and I still well up at the photos.

Peppa, on the other hand, looks thriving and deeply contented.

LeMoo · 09/01/2023 17:46

I'm so sorry, op, what an awful time for you. I had a feeling you might have been bereaved and you've been in my thoughts. I hope you still managed to have a peaceful Christmas.

I also lost a kitten once, after a very short time, and was every bit as heartbroken as when I lost my cats I'd had 20 years.

How is your toddler coping?

Peppa is looking gorgeous and I'm glad you've come back Flowers

peppareturns · 09/01/2023 17:58

Thank you everyone

It was a lovely peaceful Christmas at home. We had Peppa climbing the tree every 30 seconds and the toddler determined that a crunchie and her body weight in roast potatoes was the way forward for Christmas dinner. Especially mixed together

Cats protection couldn't be any more apologetic. They said he seemed healthy and even their vet signed him off as all good after his neutering. We've put it down to one of those awful things and that when we are all ready we will consider another one but maybe after Peppa has finished plotting my death after his adventure on Wednesday

My little girl is missing him and goes to the wardrobe and asks where bingo and we have explained in simple terms that he died and it's ok to be sad and we miss him. Her and Peppa are best friends. She can do ANYTHING to him and I mean anything. She had him in a baby bonnet earlier and was feeding him breadsticks. I try and touch him when he's in a mood and I nearly lose a finger.

I am hoping to get some more photos of Peppa on here soon but I promise to send a post neutering photo preferably with the cone of shame

So sorry for the losses of your family member and Bingo, Peppareturns. You have had a very turbulent few months and I hope things get more peaceful. Peppa looks even more wonderful. I hope all goes well on his day out on Wednesday.

torthecatlady · 09/01/2023 18:44

OP sorry for your loss and the sad update on Bingo, but thank you for coming back to update everyone Flowers

Peppa is going to be very annoyed about the cone of shame after Wednesdays outing Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 09/01/2023 18:53

Poor Peppa does he realise we are all laughing at him. 😂😂

LeMoo · 09/01/2023 19:07

Ah, I knew the two them would have a beautiful bond! No one ever comes close to replacing your childhood cat 💕

I'm glad you a nice Xmas- your toddler has the right idea about crunches and potatoes btw lol

Did the tree survive?

crosspusscrossstitcher · 09/01/2023 19:08

My boy didn't end up with a cone of shame after his "peas were popped" as DH so delightfully puts it.
His sis didn't either, even with stitches down her side - later the same day she jumped off the fence and into the neighbours garden...I wanted to get the stepladder so I could climb the fence to get her back. 🤦‍♀️😻

Ellmau · 09/01/2023 19:21

Sorry for your family bereavement, and also for the los of dear little Bingo.

Lovely to see Peppa is flourishing.

MyGhastIsFlabbered · 09/01/2023 19:24

OP I'm so sorry to read about Bingo...how awful for you all. And right on top of a family bereavement.

But so lovely to see Peppa growing up and hear about the bond between him and your daughter. My cockles are well and truly warmed.

Pudmyboy · 09/01/2023 20:18

💐to you @peppareturns for the sadness you have been through, both with family and with Bingo, so sorry for both.
Peppa looks gorgeous and you can tell is going to get more gorgeous still! I'm sorry he loves your toddler more than you but that is cats for you! Please keep us all updated, there is a lot of love on here for you and the Peppa saga!

Blowyourowntrumpet · 09/01/2023 20:58

I'm so sorry to hear of your sad news.

Peppa is just gorgeous.

Thepollonator · 09/01/2023 23:05

So so sorry that you've all had such a hard time bit hopefully little Peppa is bringing you lots of joy and ❤️

Toddlerteaplease · 09/01/2023 23:37

Please can we have a picture of him in the bonnet!!

PriamFarrl · 09/01/2023 23:42

So sorry for your sad news.
Hope all goes well for Peppa.

iloveeverykindofcat · 10/01/2023 06:07

Ah, sorry to hear that OP. I rescued a cat that turned out to be very ill. She made it, but it was touch and go. I've also lost a youngster. The thing to remember is they don't have any idea of how long they're here for, just whether their time is happy. At least Bingo had a warm safe home for the time he was here.

Well Peppa has grown up beautiful! I'm not just saying that, he's a beautiful cat. Look at that eyeliner and those markings. I see a lot of intelligence in his face.

peppareturns · 10/01/2023 14:13

I will get a photo of Peppa in his bonnet. My daughter asked if we could cut ear holes in it for him and we had a fun evening of crafts

Any tips for the after care with neutering? He still seems so tiny

Also thanks everyone for the kind words both about bingo and Peppa. It's very appreciated

Toddlerteaplease · 10/01/2023 15:01

The vets will probably tell you to keep him quiet, and minimise jumping etc. Good luck with that. Particularly if the drugs have made him hyper. 😂😂

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 10/01/2023 21:55

@peppareturns

Aw, so glad to see you again, though I'm so very sorry to hear about what a tough time your family's been through.

Condolences on the loss of your relative, and on the sad saga of poor Bingo.

Lovely news that the close bond between Peppa and your daughter continues so strongly. And he clearly remains just as handsome.

Re post-neutering aftercare, be mindful that litter tray dust can occasionally irritate or even get stuck in the site (ouch) and potentially cause infection. So best use shredded-up paper for a few days.

Cats' eyes can initially be really sensitive to bright glare light after surgery anaesthetic, so low and gentle light level can help.

Hope tomorrow goes smoothly for you all! Am sure Peppa will be back to his usual self in no time.

fatsocatso · 10/01/2023 22:06

Oh OP, so wonderful to see you back with an update. But terribly sorry for your double loss, what a difficult time for you. All my sympathy.
Massively looking forward to bonneted Peppa pics :)
I know nothing about post de-balling but my girl was completely fine after her spaying. A bit drunk from the GA for a few hours but otherwise fine.
