Stray cat isn't well

This little starving cat turned up last week. Young, maybe 5 months old, or else just tiny. Very bony. Very hungry, desperate. Didn't leave. Hung around in an outbuilding. I did feed it because it was so clearly lost and starving. Posted on social media, no one has come forward.

The temperature really dropped Friday night and I brought it in the house.

It's got a wound on its back. Was scabbed over but that came off and its started weeping pus. Today, loads came out, as I was wiping it, it was coming out again. I pressed a bit, loads more.

It also has worms.

So it needs to go to the vet. I really don't have the money for a big bill. I could maybe manage a consultation and antibiotics but nothing ongoing. I've never been in this (shitty financial) position before. Will the vets take it and treat/rehome?

I meant to add, all charged to the rspca for which I am grateful.

Oh that's great, well done.

postcardpuffin · 22/11/2022 14:42

Great news - how is she doing in herself?

Bemyclementine · 22/11/2022 17:25

I'm sure she's brighter already. She looks better. You coukd see in her eyes she wasn't right. Fingers crossed she's on the mend now

Your cat is beautiful.

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/11/2022 17:53

She’s a very pretty girl, she looks very clever too.

Does she have a name?

Bemyclementine · 22/11/2022 17:57

She has 4, the SC are inappropriate debate over it 🤣

Dc, not sc.

Very clever pus to find herself a lovely new home. I hope she makes a full recovery soon.

Neilsfavouritechilli · 22/11/2022 18:18

Aw you're a good egg OP. Keep us updated as these stories really brighten my day.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/11/2022 19:55

She lovely and I agree that she looks very intelligent!

RhannionKPSS · 22/11/2022 21:06

What a wee sweetheart, thank you for caring

RedRosie · 22/11/2022 21:07

So kind of you. What a pretty cat. I wish you both well. They really get their furry claws into your heart don't they?

Bemyclementine · 22/11/2022 21:18

Thank you all for your kind messages. I'm at a low point in life for a variety of reasons, which is why I was trying to be sensible and not let the cat in. But that would be denying who I am, an animal lover, and also a worrier! I couldn't cope with leaving her out. She's sleeping a lot but does seem brighter and more active so fingers crossed she'll be OK now. I'm happy she's here.

She's up, prowling, climbing, knocking things over...

reallyworriedjobhunter · 22/11/2022 21:40

That's a good sign. Any progress on a name?

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/11/2022 21:46

Yeah they do that. Trained our last cat to knock a lamp over I hated.

broke on the second attempt.

It's quite sad. She came running when I was clearing the plates from dinner. Jumped on the table when DC were having milk. Knows what a milk bottle is (I havent given her any) She's had a home.

Sometimes they get kicked out after kittenhood or if they’re ill.

CatChant · 22/11/2022 22:06

She is lovely and so are you OP. I hope she brings you all the happiness your kindness deserves.

PauliString · 22/11/2022 22:09

Her combined name is obviously Twinkostar.

She’s beautiful.

GiantKitten · 22/11/2022 22:16

We used to have a tuxedo girl - she was the smartest cat, used to make me throw toys for her to fetch and if I was busy she would knock them down the stairs herself and fetch them back up!
Your new girl is gorgeous, so glad you could help her!

littlejo67 · 22/11/2022 22:39

Sounds like you may have rescued each other.
