Hello,

Any owners here?

We are very likely to be getting a little girl Ragdoll next week and are incredibly excited.

We want an affectionate house cat and Ragdolls seem to fit the bill.

I have had cats before but not a house cat. 😻

Ragdoll mommy here.
They really are the most beautiful, funny, entertaining and inquisitive of cats. I've had my gorgeous girl for almost 4 years and she has brought so much joy into our lives. She loves to play, cuddles and going outside using her harness and lead.
I'm so excited for you, please post pics.

Get good quality cat litter, to help reduce the pong. Looking at you Cheddar!

Rheia1983 · 30/10/2022 17:51

I have two, Lilly and Zorro. Even thought they are litter mates their personalities couldn't be more different.

Lilly is a sweetheart: Observant and a little aloof at first but loves her scritches, calmly allows herself to be brushed everywhere, even her tummy and follows me everywhere. Started off as a silent cat but is now very chatty.

Zorro is a rascal: Jumps on my back for piggy back rides, climbs my jeans even at two years old when doing the zoomies. However, he can also be very loving and gives me head bumps all day long. Was very chatty from the outset.

I also have two and they’re just amazing. Really affectionate and absolutely full of personality.

Enjoy your new kitten, OP, it’s very hard to stop at one!

Tankgirl1997 · 30/10/2022 17:56

Have a glorious seal point girl. She's 9 now.
Intended as a house cat but she disagreed. So she just prowls round the garden.
Was quite aloof when she was younger but getting more affectionate the older she gets. She has never scratched me.

minticecreamisjustok · 30/10/2022 18:12

I have a girl and boy, so friendly and docile. The girl is a lap cat and the boy, the males grow so large, sits next to me instead. Follow me everywhere around the house, very inquisitive and playful. Bring their cat toys to you or other things they've proudly found around the house.
Have no awareness of danger, they will try to escape so make sure you keep windows closed. They don't have road sense the same as normal cats so isn't cruel, you are protecting them.

I'm also a raggie Mum, with two flames a mink seal and a lilac bicolour. You will love the personality. Very intelligent and chatty.

Ohhh so jealous! I've got 2 and could happily have lots more.

My girl, blue mitted ragdoll, is quite shy and more reserved. Very loving and just beautiful.

My boy, chocolate ragdoll. is just a purring monster. He's huge and just loves cuddles. He will happily put his harness on and go outside in the garden for a walk but my girl isn't interested at all.

Definitely agree they need to be house cats. Zero road sense.

DILs rag doll goes outside. They're near a school. Every day she waits when the children come out they all make such a fuss of her and know her name. Shes a brilliant mouser which surprised everyone.

She goes crackers if she can't go out.

Retrieves toys so you throw them again

I have two, make sure the kitten is registered from hcm clear tested parents. Ragdolls are at big risk of hcm and other medical conditions. You will have people say oh no papers as sold as pet, but that is bullshit. Kittens should be registered even those non active.
They are lovely cats and very placid even as kittens. I have a sphynx kitten (he is now one) but honestly it's like looking after a hyper toddler!

RaininginDarling · 31/10/2022 22:13

Hello! Our old boy, Bob is a rescue and we think well into double figures. He's bossy (towards our German Shepherd), affectionate and very vocal. Absolutely love him. Get a good grooming comb!

forrestgreen · 01/11/2022 10:43

I have a 3/4 ragdoll x

Tbh I'm glad I didn't find a full one as I wouldn't have coped with the fur.

But he's absolutely adorable.

Ps they hate closed doors. This is him a year ago. He's 7.2kg now

My mum had one for 16 yrs , he was lovely but definitely only affectionate on his terms . Our son now has Siamese and they are the definition of affectionate .

Smellywellyhoo · 07/11/2022 18:08

We brought home our gorgeous big baby Muffin! He's only six months old but already huge. He's such a lovely friendly playful boy, we are in love! 😻😺

What a beautiful boy😻

My ragdoll is a rescue, ex breeding queen. She is quite dog like in that she is very attached to is and follows us around but she is not a lapcat. She loves a head scratch though and is very loving in her own way. She settled next to me in bed purring away a couple of nights ago and it was just wonderful.

She isn’t an indoor cat but doesn’t go far. Her territory is 3 back gardens, ours plus our immediate neighbours.

i wouldn’t have another unless a rescue because I can see as a breeding queen she didn’t have the best life and was just dismissed when she couldn’t breed any more. Obviously some breeders are better than others though!

@Ludo19 thank you, he is a big fluffy boy, and grow large as you can see 😄 the colours deepen as they get a bit older, mine is 6 years now. Yours has lovely fluffy tail!

Ludo19 · 07/11/2022 20:22

@minticecreamisjustok he's only 6 months old. My two flame points are 15 months and huge! Your boy is absolutely stunning.

We have a 1yr old ragdoll boy and if I’m honest, I’ve often regretted getting him. He was my dream breed for a decade, so it wasn’t an impulse buy. He’s a purebred but although he seemed incredibly affectionate when I met him and brought him home, his behaviour has often been very stressful. Regularly biting, clawing and generally raising hell. We love him, but I wouldn’t choose him again.
