Is this cat pregnant?

I get a regular visitor. She was a skinny wee thing before I started feeding her. She's looking chubby on the sides when you look straight down at her. I've tried to take pictures but she's a shy wee thing. No chip. Can't get a look at her nipples. She seems grumpier than normal. Any ideas?

Possibly. Only way to check is to take her to the vet or wait

Chemenger · 24/08/2022 08:21

My guess would be yes.

SmartCar · 24/08/2022 08:31

Unsure about taking her to the vets. It was so stressful for her when we checked for a chip. Should I just make a quiet area for her in case. Don't want her to have the babies outside if she dosnt have a home.

Won’t hurt to set up an area.

Also, gently press her stomach. See if you can feel any wriggling

SmartCar · 24/08/2022 08:43

I'll give that a try when she's had her food and settles for a nap. I'll sneak up on her. Absolutely chucking it down here today she's not keen on going back outside

Try and keep her in if you can. That way, if she does have babies, you know they are safe

EthelbertaChickerel · 24/08/2022 08:45

I think so - keep trying to get a look at her nipples. They will be pink and much larger than normal if she is pregnant.

mountainsunsets · 24/08/2022 08:55

She does look pregnant.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/08/2022 09:35

She’s a beauty. What’s her name?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/08/2022 09:37

@SmartCar
I think this cat has chosen you.

Can't tell from the pics if she is pregnant, but it's certainly possible. Despite the difficulties I would definitely recommend a vet check.
Good luck and congrats on your new cat (and possible family)

SmartCar · 24/08/2022 09:46

She's just settled down in the wardrobe so will have a sneaky look soon. Crazy why she's picked us. We have a neutered male cat. A dog. And a puppy and 3 kids don't think she'll have much peace here. Will look at getting a vet appointment. I'm pretty sure she's not owned by anyone but may put a post out

Picture of her nipple 😅 and a more dignified picture bless her

I forgot to mention that she's absolutely gorgeous by the way OP. 😊. And if she does decide to have kittens in your wardrobe, she's definitely yours now.
How does she get on with your cats and dogs?

AverageJoan · 24/08/2022 10:00

She's beautiful. I would say her tummy looks round and suggest getting her checked over by a vet when she's settled a bit

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/08/2022 10:09

Well she looks the sort of cat who can successfully manage two adult humans, children, two dogs and another cat while raising kittens so I say let her get on with it.

If I lost my cat I’d be all over social media looking for her and putting posters up. Local vets might know if a grey cats missing, greys quite an unusual coat colour too.

Definitely a pregnant nipple!

SmartCar · 24/08/2022 10:18

She's the boss of everyone already. Has the male cat wrapped around her paw. The dog and puppy knows to leave her alone so she's happy. My eldest dd is her favourite as she's 13 so dosent bother her too much.

Sounds like you have a new cat! What are you going to call her?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/08/2022 10:34

This thread says everything about why I love cats so much. They just waltz in, take over, and make us poor humans feel responsible. 🤣

EthelbertaChickerel · 24/08/2022 10:38

For comparison- here is my cat, who is due in 2 weeks.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/08/2022 10:42

Her work is done isn’t it 😹

SmartCar · 24/08/2022 10:43

Oh how exciting. I have absolutely no clue how far along she would be. She does have big nipples compared to male cat and is cleaning herself alot all over. Just doing the online forms for the vet because even if she's not pregnant I'm worried something might be wrong. She's not put any weight on elsewhere. I don't think she'd be very far on. And she's young might be a 1st litter for all I know

Name OP!! What are you going to call your new cat. She’s beautiful though isn’t she. Looks like she might have some British blue in her

SmartCar · 24/08/2022 10:49

Have no clue as to name 😁 will speak to kids when they get home from school. Any ideas are welcome.

Found a pic from the 1st day she visited and you can definitely see she wasn't as bulky.
