Giving treats etc when you get the 'big eyes' and the pitiful mewing. I give in every time. But was at my friends yesterday, his two were really laying it on thick. And he resisted. How on earth do you do that ?!!

Dear God, I'd give those two treats out of fear.

What are called? Ronnie and Reggie perhaps? They look ready to rip your head off.

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 14/06/2022 15:23

I’ve got five. If I resisted I’d become their next meal.🤣

BlueKaftan · 14/06/2022 15:30

I don’t resist. I figure she has few pleasures in life so if she wants treats she gets treats. 🤷‍♀️

MsOllie · 14/06/2022 15:30

I don't Grin Ollie gets about 6 meals a day

Want2beme · 14/06/2022 15:50

Resistance is definitely futile in my house. I tell them no, but cave every single time. The only solution is to find a good hiding place🙈

Mine love Dreamies but somehow, and I'm not sure how, we've got into a routine where they just get a few at bedtime. Although I do use them occasionally to entice them in if I'm going out, or if Matt escapes out of the front door.
Like Ollie, he gets about six meals a day though!

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 14/06/2022 16:08

Because you know your place slave, and have been trained well by your furry overlords. So get them dreamies out!!🤣

I have three shelves of treats - dried spratts,
every packet of dreamies, whiskers milk drops, all the catit treats, webbox sticks and sauces, chicken and cheese strips, duck strips, whiskas dentabites and felix nibbles plus several versions of catnip
treats. 6 different type of wet food plus whiskas dried food.

Toddlerteaplease · 14/06/2022 16:37

Cheddar never demands treats and Magic only once a day. So she always gets them. And I'm just glad she's learnt to ask!

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats Their names are Betty and Zena. Betty probably would bite your hand off!

They followed both of their humans round for ages and neither have in. And I couldn't find a way to feed them surreptitiously!

This may be the difference between men and women in a nutshell.

lljkk · 14/06/2022 19:51

They look overweight and I'd feel guilty for making their obesity worse, tbh.
So i try to chuck naggy kitties outside instead.
Eventually I do capitulate, am not strong forever.

Mine follow me around the house as well (assuming they are awake. The thing is that they know when they do/don't get treats & they aren't asking for them, they just have to have my company. I currently have 2 black shadows one in the doorway & one just outside the room, waiting for me to get off the PC.

If I spend too long in here for her highness's taste, it starts with a high pitched squeak and ands up with her pawing the back of my computer chair.

Not convinced - I never say no to the cats (I've even given TC Dreamies occasionally 😹)

Toddlerteaplease · 15/06/2022 06:47

@lljkk they are a bit over weight but not that much. They both have the thickest coats I've seen!

Mine never really have treats - maybe some fresh chicken once a day.

I guess we just never started the habit so they don't know that it's an option 🙄

coffeecupsandfairylights · 15/06/2022 07:37

That was meant to be an 🤣 smiley!

Staynow · 15/06/2022 07:50

What has been done to those cats faces??

CornedBeef451 · 15/06/2022 08:24

I had to learn to be strong!

Dreamies and treats in general upset one of my cat's stomach and it's not worth living with the stench of her foul wind and the poo nuggets scattered around the house caused by constipation.

I use them in emergencies like when I need to find the little buggers to go to the vets.

They can hear the dreamies Tupperware shaking from some distance it seems, it's very useful but I look a bit mad shaking my sandwich box in the back garden.

Marscapone · 15/06/2022 08:28

I always say 'I don't cater to this' and walk away.

So they go and ask DH instead and he does cater to them. Yesterday he made them ribeye steak. Hmm

sashh · 15/06/2022 08:32

I tell mine 'no' and she goes out and 2 mins later I can see her on my neighbour's windowsill.

The neighbour then throws something out for her, usually chicken.

Then she comes back via another neighbour where she gets cat milk and goes to sleep on the resident human.

Selttan · 15/06/2022 08:43

I'm hopeless. One of mine is addicted to food in general and the other freeze dried chicken treats.

I give in every time - it's why my girls run the house, cost me a fortune in food and the vet said they both need to lose a kilo.

But they are so cute and fluffy, I don't care!!!

Cheddar isn't a fan of treats and doesn't ask. Magic loves the meaty sticks.

That's why my two are fat 😂
