Giving treats etc when you get the 'big eyes' and the pitiful mewing. I give in every time. But was at my friends yesterday, his two were really laying it on thick. And he resisted. How on earth do you do that ?!!

I keep a bag of cat treats in container next to my medication. Every day I take medication cats come up for treats. If I forget medication they remind me by pushing my container at me.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/06/2022 11:12

Now that’s very clever. Ours knows 9pm is treat time so I can see how it works.

Evenstar · 15/06/2022 11:17

@CornedBeef451 I think rattling a sandwich box would be less embarrassing than what I had to do yesterday. Ours is largely an indoor cat and disappeared from the garden yesterday. She will come to you if you sing “Wild Mountain Thyme” and I had to stand in the garden singing loudly till she hopped back from next door 😳

Shes a white cat, makes perfect sense! Nothing normal about the white bubbas 😋

Mine is currently alternating between rubbing herself all over my sneakers and sitting on them and bunny kicking them. She has a grudge against these shoes - ignores all others.

CornedBeef451 · 15/06/2022 12:37

@Evenstar that's brilliant, I hope your neighbours enjoyed the show!

sashh · 15/06/2022 12:54

@Evenstar is she deaf on the 'blue' side?

Evenstar · 15/06/2022 13:18

@sashh she isn’t as far as we can tell. Our family friends had a blue eyed white cat that was completely deaf when I was a child, the gene for deafness is linked to the blue eyes, but I don’t think 100% some have normal hearing or have one sided hearing.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/06/2022 19:59

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats actually you’re right, dh is very liberal with treats while telling me the cat is getting too fat. Which is obviously my fault for giving her 3 meals a day and dry food.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 15/06/2022 20:04

My real weakness is when he darts his paw out to pull the treat towards him... Then he is guaranteed to get another. I think his record is 8 Dreamies in a row because of irredeemable cuteness 😊

Toddlerteaplease · 15/06/2022 22:21

@CornedBeef451 how on earth did you discover that?! Does she have any other favourite songs.

CornedBeef451 · 16/06/2022 09:53

@Toddlerteaplease I think you meant @Evenstar for the song choice. Mine are the Tupperware trained ones.

One of mine is very fat as she trawls for food elsewhere. She now doesn't want to use the Catflap in the back door and begs DH to open the front door for her as his desk is right by it.

He finally snapped the other day after the constant in and out and I heard him muttering "I'm not your door bitch!" but he did then let her out again. He is, clearly, her door bitch and they both know it.

Evenstar · 16/06/2022 10:09

@Toddlerteaplease yes it is me with the musical cat, she likes “I Dreamed a Dream” from Les Mis and enjoys Songs of Praise on Sunday, but only the traditional hymns. We first noticed it when I put “I Dreamed A Dream” on the Alexa and she jumped up on the worktop and sat in front of it, swaying her head in time to the music. I was singing “Wild Mountain Thyme” one evening and she sat on my shoulder swaying her head, and since then she always responds to that, it’s definitely her favourite. This is her listening to me singing it.

Evenstar, that's so sweet. She's gorgeous. Cats are full of surprises, aren't they. I've got a blondie, she doesn't have a musical repertoire😁, but she loves treats and has 3 x tiny knobs of butter at lunchtime, everyday😁

@Evenstar do you know the Hymn 'my soul is filled with joy' sung to that tune. You could change the words and sing to her "my soul is filled with joy, when I sing to X my kitty........." Grin

@Toddlerteaplease I think if I sang that in the garden the neighbours would really think I had lost the plot 😂

@Want2beme what a lovely puss, mine likes a little bit of grated cheese and a tiny piece of ham at lunchtime 😊

She looks so much like my white bubba

Ours present themselves about 1.30pm fr their Dreamies .They like to pretend we have trained them, but we know they see this as their right and to their advantage .
She likes to be fed on the table ( I know I know)
He likes his on the lid , on the floor .
They have about 4-5 .

The Vet mutters that MaleCat is "heavy" .
Male Cat is lithe and long legged with a slim pelvis ( no I'm not in denial , he's a tall , slinky cat but when he walks on me at night I do wince).
He's 9lb7oz which I think is pretty average ( castrated moggie)

MaleCat says Ignore Vet . He has a degree in Vetinary Medicine , I have a LifeTime Qualification in Being A Cat . He says heavy , he means lovely. He is obviously mixed up
