Things we love about cats

Off the back of the babies thread this eve, I'm starting one about cats.

The blinky half closed eyes when you rub between their ears

The sound of a purr

Big stretch

The munch munch sound of dreamies being crunched

Waking up to a cat sneaking in for a spoon

The happy snore

Also, the sassy claw hooking your foot when you try and walk away they're not done being fussed

Just the fact they’re always there. A furry ball of happiness :)

Shmithecat2 · 11/06/2022 23:48

Face bumps
'Chats'
Loving nibbles on my arm

Hillrunning · 11/06/2022 23:55

When they are more into s TV show than I am.

The little grumble as she comes back inside.

SquirrelSoShiny · 12/06/2022 00:01

Their beauty.

The cat taps when you don't give them attention.

tap tap
Excuse me hooman ... you are not worshipping me! 👀

MyBottomDecides · 12/06/2022 00:02

When they grab your hand and put it on their head for more strokes

The long, languid paw outstretched from a comfortable perch

Excited belly rolls when they see you

rowkaza · 12/06/2022 00:31

Ooh yes when they paw you with their mitt for more love.

The head butts when they want more.

I'm a miserable bastard pre-coffee in the morning but I will accept a paw tap or a head butt.

I remember when I was recovering from surgery a few years ago, waking up to an awful stinky meat odour, and it was the boy next to me on my pillow breathing his dirty cat food breath next to my nose.

Disgusting but wonderful.

Oh god haven't mentioned making muffins/biscuits/kneading while dribbling.

He is quiet indoors (except his Peacock Yowl if we have to catch him) but chats away outside
She WFH with DH and lets him know if she's ignored
He look at me like I;m after his pelt and plan to skin and wear him
She gives me a Hoo'er of a look if I breath
A closed door is an insult to her eyes , every room is "Her Room"

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/06/2022 01:42

Female "just being friendly"
Male "Just being dribbly"

Their beautiful little noses and tiny toe beans. Their fluffy tummies. The way they smell. The loving way they look at you when they're contented. The way their bottoms wiggle when preparing for a pounce.

JoanOgden · 12/06/2022 11:12

Watching them outside exploring... nibbling grass, lurking under bushes, balancing on the top of the fence, throwing shade at the neighbour's cat.

Also I can watch them washing themselves for hours.

SagelyNodding · 12/06/2022 11:22

Their little soft cat foreheads-so kissable!
The pure comedy of their crazy zoomies.
Their passion for boxes and bags...
Honestly my cat is guaranteed to make me smile every single day, cats are the best!

Lizzieismagic · 12/06/2022 11:24

My teen dd has an app that records you when you are asleep. Recorded dd snoring a bit...
And dcat purring in his sleep!!
Sleeps on her pillow every night..

BlueKaftan · 12/06/2022 11:31

The early morning rump in my face, being escorted to the bathroom, rolling around on the patio, taking my seat when I get up for a quick trip to the fridge, the list goes on. 😻

BlanketsBanned · 12/06/2022 11:34

Fiddling with their rubbery ears, blowing raspberries on their tummies, them sitting staring at you for no real reason

IdiotCreatures · 12/06/2022 11:46

His little confused face when the bedroom window vanished behind the new blind.
How pleased with himself he was when he brought in a feather.
The way he hangs out with a couple of the other local cats.
The way he is fascinated with a local fox, keeps his distance but also follows from a distance.

AutumnOcean · 12/06/2022 11:58

I love the sound my cat makes as she jumps up onto the bed. Like a groan for having to put in some effort 🤣 but then she rolls over for me to pat her floofy belly and it's all worth it.

Anystarinthesky · 12/06/2022 12:02

The way she likes to lie across my chest with my arms around her, then settles down curled up at my side for the night.

The little mews she gives when I speak to her.

When I hurt my head and she curled up next to my head, and when I had a tum ache she curled up next to my stomach.

Loyaultemelie · 12/06/2022 12:25

Hand reared a kitten from 2 weeks old with Wobbly Cat Syndrome, he's 8 months now and symptoms are now thankfully very mild but the early weeks were touch and go so he has special privileges. This however has led to the nightly routine of a mad dash upstairs, take the corner too fast and fall over because moving at speed is precarious, look back to see if we noticed and immediately sit just through the bedroom door nonchalantly washing face as if to say, "I meant to do that!"

The turn on my mattie hooman tap tap (it's not his it's mine a heat mat for chronic pain)but he likes it on then stretches out on my tummy and kneads with the loudest purr ever until he gets too warm.

The "I want my bottle at 2am, what do you mean I'm not a tiny kitten any more you can't possibly think you get to sleep through now I'm a big boy so I'll accept cuddles and possibly my food dish topped up instead."

The Daddy isn't a cat person so guess who's pillow I'll sneak onto and sleep on so he wakes up with my bum in his face.

The you are my mummy so I will try to throw all others 2 legged or 4 who try to sit on you even though I'm the youngest and smallest.

The slit eyed you may adore me I'm the matriarch proud stance from my older girl who loves visitors, especially when we sit outside at the picnic table in the sun.

The 4 cat competition to climb the Christmas tree every single year.

Catsmere · 31/03/2023 00:31

Everything, except the worrying about their health! (Mine are indoor only, so I don’t have to worry about their whereabouts or safety.)

Doyouthinktheyknow · 31/03/2023 19:08

Dcat isn’t the most affectionate but if she’s outside she will come running when she hears my voice and she wakes me most nights at 3am with a little purr or a cheep for an ear rub😻

Although she isn’t particularly affectionate she is very bonded to me and follows me around the house. When she head bumps my hand for a bit more fuss I feel like I’ve died and gone to heaven.

Cats really are the most wonderful creatures😻

specialklady · 31/03/2023 19:14

I just think cats are beautiful souls, like really lovely people but small and oh so beautiful. They don't judge, they don't care if you're sick and your breath smells. They're fun, calm, gentle, sometimes naughty, proud and just magical.

Yes I'm a bit cat mad ☺️ have grown up with cat loving parents and have a handsome ginger now with my DH, who I completely converted from a dog man to a full blown cat lover!

meow1989 · 31/03/2023 19:18

LOL it came up in the list of similar threads at the bottom of the page! I didn’t even think to look at the dates. I just joined Mumsnet, and immediately headed for the litter tray, as it were … 😄
