Boy cat has been bitten... (With picture)

Back from holiday and boy cat has been bitten on one of his back legs.

He's cheery as anything, eating and drinking and playing as normal. He's walking absolutely fine, only bothered at it a couple of times since last night. It looks quite clean to me.

I gave him a bit of metacam last night just to be on the safe side, in case we was in any pain but he doesn't seem to be at all - he's always quite obvious with pain and goes off his food and hides.

See how it goes or vets tomorrow?

I'd go to the vet.

I'm no expert but I was told once that with bites like that you should bathe them in a saline solution while waiting for the vet.

Want2beme · 20/03/2022 11:21

I'd see how he is tomorrow. Poor old sausage. They do end up infected a lot of the time, don't they. She is a bite?

Want2beme · 20/03/2022 11:21

*sure not she.

JorisBonson · 20/03/2022 11:27

@YetAnotherSpartacus I need to bring our a pair of gauntlets to do that 😂

@Want2beme not entirely sure as we've been away so just assuming. There's a new bigger boy in the street who has taken a dislike to poor boy cat.

He's currently playing on next doors trampoline so obviously not feeling too bad 🙄

I was expecting to die too but the cat just looked sad and put up with it. He must have been quite ill I suppose. He wasn't mine but preferred me.

Harpydragon · 20/03/2022 11:47

Our s is taking quite a battering at the moment with a new cat on the block. His neck abscessed before Christmas and required a course of antibiotics. He's got something brewing under his chin at the moment, it's been disinfected and checked regularly, but an expecting the worst again!

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 20/03/2022 13:07

Puncture wounds generally always need a vet so they can be cleaned out properly and the cat can be given antibiotics.

Cats mouths are filthy Grin

sunisblinding · 20/03/2022 13:10

Yes, do take him to the vet.

We had this a couple years ago, he's fluffy so we didn't realise he'd been bitten, but it turned septic and he ended up having to stay at the vets for 3 nights on a drip.

JorisBonson · 20/03/2022 13:17

I've just found this in the garden... Is this a BB pellet? Has some fucker been shooting at my cats??

I don’t know but it looks like the pictures online Shock

Yoyokitten · 20/03/2022 13:52

Is there an exit hole? Poor boy. Hope he's ok.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/03/2022 13:54

Yes, it does. Do your ndn have boys?

JorisBonson · 20/03/2022 15:00

I'll get a proper look at him when he's done galavanting. No ndn's with boys of appropriate ages. I'm so so angry.

I've just found another one upstairs. Bastards.

Pebble21uk · 20/03/2022 15:34

Oh your poor boy... I despair of the human race at times!

Are there any windows overlooking your garden? Does your boy wander... I know ours has a territory which takes in several neighbours gardens as well... perhaps someone who doesn't want him in there's and has no shred of human decency has taken things into their own hands?

Such a shock for you Flowers... thank God your boy doesn't seem too bad in himself at the moment, but of course animals are very good at hiding pain.

JorisBonson · 20/03/2022 16:32

He does wander but not far at all. He goes into the alleyway at the back of our house... I know most of the neighbours so I'm assuming it's someone over the back.

He's home, happy as Larry, had his dinner and is having a nap. Can't see an exit wound - I'm wondering if he got it stuck in his leg and managed to get it out, hence why I found one upstairs.

I'm just so angry. How could someone do that to an animal?

OP posts:
Yoyokitten · 20/03/2022 16:37

God knows, I'm angry for you. Phone the police, it needs reporting.
I must say when I saw the photo, I thought it looked too round a hole for a bite.
Some evil people in this world. So sorry this has happened to you and your lovely boy💐

Yoyokitten · 20/03/2022 16:40

Yes take him to the vet too, if he has been shot, you will have the vet report too. Don't know if the Police or RSPCA will help, but I hope you can get an answer

JorisBonson · 20/03/2022 16:44

I'll be calling the vet tomorrow

OP posts:
TicTac80 · 20/03/2022 17:58

Yep, deffo pellets from BB gun (we’ve got them - for use at a specific air soft shooting place). I can’t believe how bloody evil some people can be. Hope the check over at vet goes ok. Poor little guy x

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/03/2022 19:32

Dh used to go clay pigeon shooting and the gun shop said a gun to shoot cats was a common request. They refused the sales.

Their unlicensed too which is batshit and you don’t need a gun safe to keep them in either.

People are evil, I couldn’t hurt an animal either. You could cat proof the garden so he can’t get hurt again.

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/03/2022 19:36

If you’ve got a fb local spotted page you can put it on there & report it to the rspca incase he’s not the only one.

A lot of people like cats.

JorisBonson · 20/03/2022 19:46

I'll definitely do that once it's confirmed by the vet. We have a street WhatsApp group too.

He's been awake and playing most of the day (and absolutely not helping me do the garden) so he's sound asleep right now and purring away when I go to see him.

It's just so awful and maddening.

Cleothecat75 · 20/03/2022 20:04

That’s so sad. I was coming in to say how frustrating it is when your cat is fighting-the only thing that stopped ours was moving house (planned military move), but to find out someone is shooting at your beloved pet is awful. Definitely phone the police and rspca for advice.

Want2beme · 20/03/2022 21:17

Monsters. Hope they get caught😾
