How are your cats coping?

With storm Eunice that is. My boy is an indoor cat and the noise seems to be stressing him out. He's not really a lap cat so can't fuss him to settle him. He's doing all his attention seeking behaviour bless him. Might try sitting in my bedroom where it is marginally quieter to see if he'll sit with me in there. He usually sleeps this time of the day.

Mine is sleeping away the day. She’s not bothered by the elements!

VittysCardigan · 18/02/2022 12:17

He seems to have taken himself off to my room on his on for now at least. He's not usually bothered but it is very loud here at the moment.

Mine keeps wanting to go out there to skit about like a loon. I've kept her in now to hopefully settle down :)

VittysCardigan · 18/02/2022 12:18

They're daft creatures

My two are desperate to go outside! They love chasing leaves 😄

The wind had died down to normal windy day levels about an hour ago so I let little cat out when she meowed pathetically at me. She ran back in a few minutes later (she hates the wind) with a look of horror on her face (I know I should have paused the storm for her, I’m a bad slave). She’s sleeping off the trauma now, poor lamb.

One of mine went out and straight back in, the other 2 are comfy on the beds

Susu49 · 18/02/2022 14:05

Staying firmly indoors but was looking passed off at the strong gusts she could hear until I sat next to her.

Now she is sleeping soundly and apparently I Must Not Move.

Pissed*

MarisPiper92 · 18/02/2022 14:13

Both asleep now, but one of them was pacing and yelling all over the house a couple of hours ago. She doesn't like noise, so I'm not surprised.

raspberryjamchicken · 18/02/2022 14:17

Better than my cat in 1987 who wouldn't come in when she was called before bed and spent the night out in the hurricane.

She was mildly intrigued by the waving branches for about 5 minutes and has spent the rest of the time asleep on my bed.

SoupDragon · 18/02/2022 14:19

One cat (I don't know which one) had a great time hunting and killing flying leaves earlier. Both are now asleep on my bed as per usual.

VittysCardigan · 18/02/2022 14:20

The worst has gone over now. Nowhere near as loud, although far from quiet. He has settled in his bed.

Mine are indoor cats, busy chasing leaves through the window before going for a nap due to all that exertion.

My old boy is deaf, so the noise isn't bothering him Grin. He sleeps for about 21 hours a day, but he does usually go outside for a little wander about. Not today - he's been sitting on the windowsill, watching the rain. He's got a litter tray, his food, the heating is on, so he's quite happy.

Fizbosshoes · 18/02/2022 15:02

We have a super scaredy cat. She hates being stroked or picked up and doesn't really come near us if she can help it. However she isn't unduly scared of things like fireworks or high winds.

BiggerBoat1 · 18/02/2022 15:03

My cat has the right arse. She's desperate to go out, but scared of the wind.
She seems to think its our fault!

Lovemusic33 · 18/02/2022 15:04

Mine has been stuffing his face and sleeping most of the day. He went out early this morning before the wind got strong and hasn’t been out since.

caranations · 18/02/2022 15:07

One of mine has just in the last few minutes taken a strange interest in the fireplace and chimney breast in the living room. She keeps going over to it and looking upwards, and I sincerely hope she can't hear anything that I can't. Like creaking noises from high up.

WutheringHeights66 · 18/02/2022 15:09

Mine aren’t bothered but they won’t go out for a wee so I’ve done about five litter trays of poo and wee so far.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 18/02/2022 15:18

Mine aren't remotely fussed.

I'm also house-sitting this week and have kept their cat indoors today. Normally she asks to go out at lunch but she went to the window, took one look at the hail and beat a hasty treat Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 18/02/2022 15:18

It's not storm weather here. (East Midlands) so mine aren't fussed.

Iamanicepersonreally · 18/02/2022 17:37

She doesn't seem too bothered

Worrying about our cat as he managed to slip out when dh got home and hasn't come back which is very unusual for him

LargeInCharge · 18/02/2022 19:21

Mines an indoor cat and he was fine. He was either sleeping, wanting cuddles, following me around or looking out the window
