How are your cats coping?

With storm Eunice that is. My boy is an indoor cat and the noise seems to be stressing him out. He's not really a lap cat so can't fuss him to settle him. He's doing all his attention seeking behaviour bless him. Might try sitting in my bedroom where it is marginally quieter to see if he'll sit with me in there. He usually sleeps this time of the day.

Ours sat by the cat flap early this morning, moaaning to go out. I was tough and refused, DH let her out before it got too bad, she came back within 30 seconds🤣

She slept all morning, paced around and moaned to DH when she got up at lunchtime and eventually got fed up and went back to sleep!

She’s been out now, catflap opened after the wind died down and she’s in and out. She was out when I came home, came bounding toward me when I called her, ignored me, did a poo in the litter tray and went out again🤷‍♀️🤣

Mine has been curled up on the back of sofa, opening one eye every now & then to look out the window. Think she is happy to not be a stray anymore!

Mine is bored, bored, bored! He hates being stuck indoors but equally hates the wind. We kept him in until 5pm ish when the worst had blown over but he only went out for half an hour. I've tried playing with him but he's currently meowing at me from the top of the stairs to entertain him... again!

I hope your boy appears soon @atourwitsend

@LargeInCharge hope he wanders home soon. He's probably found somewhere to hunker down for a while

All of my cats stayed in from about 8 or 9 am until 5 or 6 pm. My youngest (and soppiest lap cat) followed me around quite a bit crying at me, his miaows were very plaintive (I think he wanted me to turn off the weather)!

I'm just so glad I kept mine in today as a pane of glass blew off my greenhouse. Usually Haribo sits in the greenhouse.

Atourwitsend · 18/02/2022 21:04

Came in, looked at me and ran back out as I went to lock cat flap, eventually came back in 15 minutes later

Cat 1: Barely noticed. has got on with her normal day of 99% sleeping.

Cat 2: Very very cross that he hasn't been allowed outside. Have had several discussions that he wouldn't like it but he is not convinced and has kept up a furious protest for most of the day.

Funnily enough weather has never bothered Zara in the slightest, nor have fireworks. She's a timid little thing and can be jumpy, but these don't seem to register as scary to her. I don't think she even noticed. Bibi slept most of the day then seemed to come over all bolshy in the evening and ran around offering to fight the storm (through the window). They now seem to have forgotten all about it.

Micky hated it. We are in Germany where we had the second storm this week and Micky did not like the sounds outside at all. It seems that she didn’t sleep much at all last night. I woke up twice and she was always awake and facing the windows. This morning when the storm calmed down, she slept for a very long time.

Glad all your pusscats are ok!

I'm not in the UK but we get some terrifying storms here. I'd like to share this photo of my late Alfreda cowering in bed during a thunderstorm, she was such a scaredy cat 😹

Mr Cat's not bothered. We normally let him come and go as he pleases, and he never spends long outside in bad weather anyway, but the draft and noise from the cat flap bothers us, so we're keeping it locked and only opening it up when he asks to go out right now. The cat flap goes through a wall, so MrCat has to creep through quite a tunnel. He's a BIG cat filling a standard width tunnel. He won't go out though it when the wind is just in the wrong direction, turning the cat tunnel into a wind tunnel blowing into the house. Then MrCat issues his complaints to us until we open a proper door for him. He's happy coming back in though the tunnel.

My bishop friend's cat went out for a walk, came back in and plonked her wet bum on the open Bible on his desk. Apparently halfway through the book of Job GrinGrin

Haribo is miffed the greenhouse is out of bounds because I lost a pane of glass from the roof, it just flew off and smashed onto the road. Luckily it's toughened glass so it shattered into tiny squares.
