Recommend me a cat bed!

DCat like an igloo style bed, but hers lost all stiffness in the wash and now collapses, so she sleeps on top of it. I also think doughnut beds look v cosy.

Any suggestions of good quality beds that survive cleaning?

Currently on our 3rd feline and looking after our son's cat while he is working away. I can confidently say whichever cat bed you choose your cat will give it a filthy look and sleep elsewhere.

Rainydonkey · 17/01/2022 16:00

I'd agree, ours have spurned any cat beds they've been offered. They expect us to sit on the floor so they can take over the sofa.

MayThePawsBeWithYou · 17/01/2022 16:04

An upside down cardboard box with a door cut out of it on top of a cheap fleecy blanket

FurBabyMum02 · 17/01/2022 16:08

Cardboard boxes are beds in this house, nothing bought for them passes inspection, or more recently they have taken over the moses basket DS has grown out of that was headed for the loft, they are sleeping in style right now.

FolornLawn · 17/01/2022 16:27

Oh, DCat LOVES to have a bed. She sleeps in it every night but sometimes chooses to go in there during the day.

Any bed you DON’T buy!

Bag of knitting
Bath mat
Window sill
Cardboard box
Dressing gown.

justaweeone · 17/01/2022 16:47

Just offer it a clean basket of white washing!

Toddlerteaplease · 17/01/2022 17:00

Magic has a tipi. She loves it!

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 17/01/2022 18:49

Cat tree - the top "shelf" or the basket are the most popular spots.
Old cardboard boxes.
The top of DH's work bag (or inside it, given the chance)
The top of the fridge.
Behind the fireplace.
On top of the radiator.
Under the bed.
On my clean clothes.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 17/01/2022 18:56

Spongecat has a reasonably expensive cat cave thing. She sleeps on it, and has squashed it out of recognition. I used to knock it back into shape, but it was pointless. The cat won.

twinkie100 · 17/01/2022 19:05

Leave out clean washing / clean blankets / your own pillow / the open dirty laundry basket / leave open your underwear or pyjama draw / your kids beds.... and there's your cat bed. Leave out a selection of perfectly placed and perfectly comfortable actual cat beds and watch them gather dust 😂😂

Amicompletelyinsane · 17/01/2022 19:09

My confused cat like to break into the 10kg tub of cat food and sleeps on the top of the food, actually in the tub🤷‍♀️

Mine uses my bed he has his own blanky though

MaryAndHerNet · 17/01/2022 19:16

I've had my cat a while now.
I vividly remember a time when daughter and I rushed out to get all the kit for new cat. Litter trays, beds, bowls, scratching post etc. We were due to get her on a Saturday from RSPCA.
On the Friday, we spent the day prepping the house and had a delivered pizza for tea from a local shop.

Saturday, got cat, came home. She was an adult and didn't take long to come out and explore...

Sniffed new food.. wandered off .
Sniffed new water bowl.. wandered off
Sniffed everything in the house and wandered off...

Guess what she picked to sleep on?
£35 pets at home cat bed?
£80 multi level scratch post?
Old pizza box?

I've had to get two of these for mine as they kept arguing over the first one Grin never washed them though so can't say how well they wash www.petsathome.com/shop/en/pets/pets-at-home-grey-spotty-donut-cat-bed

DontKeepTheFaith · 17/01/2022 20:23

I bought 2 beds for our cat, she ignored both of them and sleeps on a cardboard scratcher or our bed!

Such a waste of money. I still do like the look of the super fluffy donut beds but Dcat is unlikely to use it.

kittenkipper · 17/01/2022 21:03

My cat loves an igloo bed. I don't know if they'll be good or pass muster, but also have some very cheap at the minute. I've ordered 2 - at £10 I can risk 2 even if they're rejected.

Primark paper carrier bags are top real estate in this house. You do need to cut the handles off though. Downside is they're not particularly long-lasting and they don't wash. Grin

TheOnlyLivingBoyInNewCross · 17/01/2022 22:01

We got ours this one - they LOVE them. Have totally turned their backs on all other sleeping spots.

SalsaLove · 17/01/2022 22:03

A fleece bed, donut style?

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 17/01/2022 22:07

One of mine likes a doughnut bed, or my bed... one likes a bare cardboard box, or my daughter's bed, or an igloo... one likes her carrying basket with fleecy blanket or me..they all like the top shelf of the tallest cat tree...

ImInStealthMode · 17/01/2022 22:12

Mine prefers an Amazon box if there's one available. Christmas deliveries having been and gone he's lowered himself to sleeping in a little wooden crate beside the heater that DP put a blanket inside for him, at least until next time we have a takeaway pizza, at which point he'll claim the box Hmm

(The beds linked above look lovely though)

I picked one of these up on Saturday. DCat has previously ignored anything actually designed for him (eg baskets, toys, food bowls) however he loves his new igloo.

ClariceQuiff · 17/01/2022 22:14

A torn cardboard box three sizes too small that's waiting to go in the recycling.

In my experience, anyway!
