Is it time ?

I’m in tears . Our lovely, nutty cat has suddenly gone downhill, she’s 14 ,she keeps asking for food even though there’s food in her bowl, she has stopped cleaning herself, her pupils are very dilated and tonight she can’t seem to jump onto the sofa or get down the stairs, she has also lost weight and (this evening) I’ve noticed blood in her poo .
I’m taking her to the emergency vet tomorrow, I can’t bear to think of her suffering.

I think it's a natural part of grieving to question yourself and feel you could have done more. We have all been there. Hope you all feel better soon.

I lost my cat Parsnip on 9th Dec (PTS). He had been poorly only a couple of days and when the vet called me to say he was gasping for breath would I consent, I agreed so he wasn't suffering but I broke down in tears in the street (I was on the way to work and had to turn around and go home in shock).
Their suspicion was that he may have been poisoned and for a few days I google as much as I could and wondered if he could have been saved if it had been discovered sooner.

But at the end of the day I did my best and took my him to the vet as soon as I knew he was ill - they didn't seen.too concerned and I followed their advice . Nothing can turn back the clock - he won't come back.so when I feel sad I try and remind myself how much we loved him , cared for him and the little rapport we had. He was only 2.5 years old but I had so many pictures and have ordered a calender of some of my favourites.

I’m so sorry about Parsnip (what a fabulous name !) so young too . The sadness comes over in waves and I made a bit of a Wally of myself in a zoom call today because my colleague asked if puss was going to make an appearance and I had to say what had happened and started to cry , I don’t know who felt worse, me or her !
Time is a healer though , she led a very charmed life , spoilt rotten and smothered with love.
