My cat came to live with me 16 months ago. He was an injured stray who had been taken to an animal shelter, where he stayed for 3 months. During that time they were unable to regime him because he was so terrified, he constantly hid. As a last resort they passed him to a cat rescue charity, and I took him on as a foster cat. The plan was to rehabilitate him, so that eventually he could find a permanent home.
When he came to live with me his behaviour was quite bizarre. After a week of hiding from me, he started coming out in the evening. In the evening he would walk around my flat constantly yowling at the top of his voice. He would frequently approach me, looking like he wanted a stroke, but once he got within a meter he would hiss at me and then run away! Sometimes I would be sitting on my own minding my own business and he would come up to me and hiss! He used to scratch and bite alot. He was also petrified of any and every sound.
Over time with lots of calmness and gentleness he started to trust me. It took 6 months before he completely stopped hissing! Now if he hears an unfamiliar noise, he looks at me as if to say, are we safe? I always tell him it's okay and he completely relaxes....it's so cute!!
He's the most adorable little companion. He never bites me now. He sometimes scratches, but that's because he has got over excited playing! He demands to be fed at 3am, but I've overcome this problem by setting up a timed cat feeder, so he can have his midnight feast without disturbing me!
I had been through a really difficult time in my life before he arrived and I was very lonely. He is such an amazing little companion for me. We are so happy together. So, I really do love my cat so much 🥰
....ooh, and even though he was a foster cat, I ended up adopting him! I just couldn't give him away!
