On holiday, found a tiny kitten.

We are in Croatia on holiday.
Went out today and came back to the house about 4.15pm to find a kitten in a bush. We haven't gone too close and we've been waiting for the mother to come back.
It looks about 2 weeks old and is meowing at regular intervals.
Does anyone know how long mother cats leave kittens? It's been 2 hours and it's getting dark.

Well done. Such a little beauty. Are you going to adopt it?

She’ll have too. Once the kids see it it’s game over.

At least you cared enough to help it. A mother cat would never abandon a kitten like that.

This is such a lovely thread. I'm loving the pictures ❤️❤️

Dd14 is the favourite. She (had to gender her because calling her it didn't seem right) cries whenever dd gives her to me. Ds12 says he's feeling very stressed as the survival rates for kittens like this is very low.

I have no idea how to adopt a kitten from another country and I'm not sure my cats at home would approve.

The best thing would be to find her a home here, but not sure any of the rescues will take her.

Oh what a beauty!

We rescued a kitten in India. I ended up feeding it baby milk as that’s all we had and then it progressed on to lentils curry! The people where we were staying ended up keeping her and she was a much loved mouser. Hope you find a home for her.

This gives me hope. We'll try our best.

Oh what a lovely little thing. And thank you so much for caring for it. Really hope you find a good rescue.

urbanbuddha · 18/10/2021 09:01

I'm so pleased she made it through the night. Hope you find someone to help.
Perhaps the shelter would be able to advise if you want to try to bring her back to the UK??

Sunshine2468 · 18/10/2021 12:02

Thanks for all the messages, it's been a busy morning.

The lovely UK/Ireland based charity SOS Dubrovnik helped me get Kitty to the nicest vet in Dubrovnik. She is a she and very healthy. We bought kitten milk, a bottle and some cream for her gunky eyes.

We're not allowed pets in our accommodation so we really had to find her a foster or home. There's a shelter on the way home, so we decided to try and see if they'd take her.

The shelter has 300 dogs and is amazing. They took her and it was clear they really care. She'll have a good life I'm sure. We all cried as we left.

We donated to Zarkovica Anzio shelter and once I'm finished my large cocktail, I'll donate to SOS Dubrovnik Cats.

Thanks so much all for your help.

That’s bought a tear to my eye 😭 it’s a good job you found a home, the cost of importing kittens is not cheap.
