Test your cats intelligence

The idea is,you pick your cat up, and see if their paws or face hits the wall first when you slowly push them towards it

Paws first, intelligent.
Face first. Not

Toots got a 4.5/10

One paw went out, one didn’t and her face was very close to the wall.

I did however have to do the walk of shame by her afterwards as she seemed to get what I was trying to do and then poised herself to attack me as I went by Grin

The smartest cats do something like the cat in this video instead (turn 180 degs and SMACK).

Soubriquet · 02/09/2021 09:24

If toots thought for a second she would do that in a heartbeat

But I don’t pick her up very often so she was a bit thrown off

“How dare you pick me up human!”

Ah. You will be able to test her true intelligence with the inventiveness of her revenge then.

cricketmum84 · 02/09/2021 09:53

Betsy went paws first! Which is surprising as she is normally quite dim.

Toddlerteaplease · 02/09/2021 11:26

I do not need to test mine, to know that they were at the back of the queue when brains were given out!

TheBalletCats · 02/09/2021 13:38

Seriously?

Why would you jump on a trend involving holding cats in a way they’ll not like, that’s not sensible & might actually hurt them? Marginally better than that absolutely horrendous trend for deliberately scaring cats with cucumbers I suppose, but why would you choose to put an animal that trusts you & relies on you in a situation where they feel unsafe, uncomfortable & confused?

TikTok seems to exist to prove that an alarming number of people would indeed go jumping off cliffs/sticking their head in the oven/self immolating at the merest suggestion from a peer they should try it out. At least they’re not feeding the poor wee things Tide Pods I suppose.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/09/2021 13:57

Tbh those of working with the general public knew this anyway,

Never a dull day.

SoupDragon · 02/09/2021 14:00

I saw this only with dogs.

I'm not prepared to try it with either the hyperactive spaniel or the sharp clawed cats.

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 02/09/2021 14:06

Isis knew I was up to something right away and legged it 12/10

MrsRobbieHart · 02/09/2021 14:10

I very much enjoyed that video. On more than one level. Grin

Theunamedcat · 02/09/2021 14:10

Its actually a test in how much they trust YOU if they put there paws out they don't trust you not to smack there head off the wall no paws out they trust you not to hurt them

bamboocat · 02/09/2021 14:13

I shall try this with two of mine, when I can find them.

The third Does Not Like To Be Picked Up Thank You Very Much.

The fourth walked head first into our patio door the other day, so few brains there, but we already knew he was gormless anyway.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 02/09/2021 14:22

I think it depends on the cat and your relationship with the cat. Some would be 'what on Earth are you up to now, human?' and others would be scared or antagonised. I'd never try it with the latter.

Growing up, our neighbours' meezer was so chilled I used to give him manicures.

Luckily they have their cuteness to make up for it

I did this with mine a while ago Grin

Girlcat didn't do anything and just headbutted the wall Hmm - she's not the brightest button in the box!
Both boycats put their paws out - the youngest then took advantage of the situation and climbed up on top of the door, so 13/10 for him!

NotMyCat · 02/09/2021 22:23

I can't pick mine up so a fail straight away!

Papergirl1968 · 03/09/2021 08:30

Matt passed with flying colours. Proud momma here!
Socks, let’s just say I don’t think she quite got it. Hmm

LukeEvansWife · 03/09/2021 08:46

Yeah it’s all fun and games until they all get into Catbook to create a ‘most inventive method of revenge against hoomans’ challenge Grin

Why scare me like that Sad

Toots already has a master plan half the time

😂 Are you tyring to get people injured. Pick your cat up, lol. No thanks, quite like my skin intact.

MrsBertBibby · 03/09/2021 08:58

If I tried that shit on my cat, his tail would hit the wall first as his front end would be busy removing my face.

PlanetTeaTime · 03/09/2021 09:45

I did it with one of my cats, he put his back feet up against the wall but his front feet did nothing at all

Does this count as intelligent?

cricketmum84 · 03/09/2021 09:50

Good Lord they'd be questioning MY intelligence in A&E as they waited for a plastic surgeon to come and repair me ...

^You don't have the respect of T&D do you 70 , so what made you think this was a good idea"?

LukeEvansWife · 03/09/2021 15:59

As an aside, I love how those of us with cats almost rejoice in the fact they are lairy little sods and we have to make sure not to annoy them Grin
