I love it when cats…

Decide to furiously lickwash a postage stamp area, usually on their side, and fully disregard washing any other bits. The postage stamp area looks like it’s been gelled down with some 80’s Wella.

That’s like me washing a 3 inch area on my left thigh and then smugly going, that’s me, I’m done. All fresh.

So, I love it when cats…??

Stick their tongue out when sleeping Grin

Downsize2021 · 28/07/2021 22:35

They're kittens and you give them something new they love (tuna is my memory) and their little tails quiver with delight and They're trying to purr and eat at the same time.

ZeroFuchsGiven · 28/07/2021 22:35

And shamelessly sticking their leg in the air licking their arse and not giving a shit if you have guests.

FlyingFlamingo · 28/07/2021 22:36

Forget to put their tongue away!

Any yes to pp who said when they do something silly and try to pretend like it never happened, one of mine pretends she is so classy and sensible and then she’ll roll off the top level of the tree, look back at it as if it pushed her off and then walk off hoping no one saw Grin

Downsize2021 · 28/07/2021 22:38

And when they want to pounce and get themselves all ready and do the bum wiggle then leap with all their might and land about 30cm from where they set off...

Snooks1971 · 28/07/2021 22:41

Oh I love all of these! Yes to forgetting to put their tongue away when they are interrupted during washing. They look at you as if you are the mad one.

@CarnationCat

I love it when cats close their eyes at me.
That’s a wee cat kissy. If you do it to them, they do it back at you (or try to kill you).
delilabell · 28/07/2021 22:48

Neither of our cats has done the tongue thing yet. Had forgotten it until the mention on here. Gorgeous thread. I love it when ours meow around the house until they find us. Makes me feel loved

TrainspottingWelsh · 28/07/2021 22:51

When they chirrup their arrival. Even if you're the one arriving, it's still their entrance.

The way they flip between being cute and cuddly to hunting mode in the blink of an eye. Ex feral is particularly good at this, one moment she's impersonating the most lazy, laid back pet ever, next moment she's all predator and looks like something from a wildlife documentary.

Waking up to them snuggled against you and purring away.

Coffee86 · 28/07/2021 22:55

Our cat calls to dh when she wants to find him. She's clever enough to know about where he is and if he's awake. She also follows him like a shadow and is rarely far from him. She's incredibly loyal.

evtheria · 28/07/2021 23:03

I love it when (some) cats gently tap your arm to ask for a pet - I could be defusing a bomb and I’d still stop and cuddle them, it’s a cat WITH MANNERS?! Irresistible!

Also love when they firmly hold down a kitten/other living creature for a right good and proper washing. And when they roll back so much on the edge of a wall/tabletop they fall off then look at you as if you has shoved them.

RainyDay2020 · 28/07/2021 23:09

I love that our cat always instinctively knows when my son needs him and will magically appear from wherever he is and just quietly sit with and give head bumps to my son until he calms again.

Want2beme · 28/07/2021 23:53

Love it when you have their full attention, but they suddenly find something else so much more interesting and then won't engage with youGrin Also love it when they're happy to see you for whatever reason and come flying at youSmile

I proper snorted at that! Perfect description.
Furries · 29/07/2021 00:20

I love it when they sniff something with their mouth open, and then look up at you/something else - but forget to close their mouth. They just look so cute and daft at the same time.

I love it when my boy politely waits for me to get into bed and then jumps up, settles down next to me and wraps his paws round my wrist. He then settles his chin on my hand and drifts off purring like a Harley. It’s my equivalent of relaxing whale music for me to nod off to.

Shodan · 29/07/2021 00:47

@Snooks1971 Sometimes, when one of my cats has just done that, I ruffle the freshly-washed bit with my finger. The outrage on their face makes me laugh Grin (I'm so mean...)

I love it when boy cat stretches his full length up the back door, because it perfectly displays his lovely furry tummy.

Also if I'm feeling down they come and sit, sphinx-like, either side of me until I feel better.

MorriseysGladioli · 29/07/2021 00:54

I like it when they're strolling past and don't want to be stroked.
They dip themselves into an 'H' shape so that their back is just out of reach.

Wantingtogetitright · 29/07/2021 00:57

When they lie belly up in the sun. I cannot walk past that. I HAVE to stop and say ‘ooooh are you sunbathing?’

Coffee4Queen · 29/07/2021 01:00

When she randomly gets the zoomies and whizzes about the room like she’s on steroids! It’s like watching a ping pong game. Also while she’s running she slips and slides all over the place because of her furry toe beans Grin

MorriseysGladioli · 29/07/2021 01:03

I love it when you casually leave a half open paper bag on the floor, and they end up whizzing around the room with their head and front paws in it.
They look so serious (and ridiculous!)

Bigoldmachine · 29/07/2021 01:45

Stalk a creature for ages, but wait way too long to pounce so it walks/flies away. Then the cat tries to pretend it wasn’t that bothered anyway…

I love how mine appears when I’m changing the bed, ready to run around the mattress like a loon when I get to the duvet swishing stage.

I love how they find the one patch of sunshine in any given room and luxuriate in it.

I love the gentle paw tap to get me to roll over in bed to stroke her. And of course the super loud relaxing purr when I do.

Cats are the best ❤️

Mabelface · 29/07/2021 07:41

Sleep in ridiculous positions

I love it when cats…
Soubriquet · 29/07/2021 07:46

I love it when she’s playing and her she does her head wiggle followed by a bum wiggle before getting up and running away

FlyingFlamingo · 29/07/2021 08:14

When they are rubbish at hiding Grin

My little one ‘hid’ behind a tuft of grass yesterday - it was the right height but only about 2cm wide Grin

And she regularly hides under furniture, which would be more successful if she remembered to take her tail in with her Grin
