hi,
I'm getting a kitten in a few weeks once it's old enough. It's a few years (lots) since i've had a cat. I've got a wee list of what I need - but what have I forgotten?? It's so GORGEOUS!
Thank-you!

litter tray & litter
cat food bowls/water bowls
cat food
cat bed
cat toys
register at vet

A cat carrier. As in a box or cage to transport to vets etc if ever needed.

...to get used to playing second fiddle for the entire of her life.

Don't try to fight it. You can't win.

This is true.

Great excuse to leave events early too.

Insurance
Make appointments for chipping and neutering (and keep the kitten inside until both are done)
As others have said, another kitten (lots of rescues will only home pairs of kittens)
If you're getting a cat flap, get a microchip controlled one so other cats can't get in
Start looking now for all the places it will hide in !!
Reassurance that you're not getting the kitten from an unscrupulous seller who is breeding for money

The last item on the list is the hardest....

Sorry TSS felt obliged to, more of a PSA.
People see the funny YouTube cats on roomba's and don't think it through.
My cousin being exhibit A.
(She rang just about her entire family that day, repeatedly. Not being able to smell or see it, it was funny as fuck)

so, getting kitten next week (pic of when it was a bit smaller attached). will be 8 weeks when I take it home.

Will a kitten manage in a 'standard' litter tray, or do they need the teeny kitten ones? also, at night, do you keep them in one room or what? I seem to remember my previous cats being able to roam through the house, but maybe for kittens it's different? Someone mentioned a pop up pen for it?

was thinking of putting the litter tray in our cupboard under the stairs, and ideally one of the ones with a cover sort of thing - is this a good idea or not? re cupboard under stairs. It's only really got our hoover and steam mop in it, plus shopping bags currently.

the boys want to call her Kimi (after Kimi Raikanin the racing driver)!
