New kitten dilemma

We have an appointment tomorrow to meet three recently abandoned kittens. They were found on Friday in an empty house by a removal firm who'd gone in to clear out (a repossession, I assume). Bastards, there isn't a hell hot enough.

We lost our previous furbabies in 2017 and February this year (aged 17 and 20) and am really anxious about new cats. I genuinely didn't sleep last night worrying about not being able to love them as much as we did the oldies, and of course, the thought of leaving one on her own, as we have only been looking for two cats who can live together. Kittens never really came up - we were thinking rehoming slightly older.

Should we take all three? They're a boy and two girls, so we're thinking "one of each" as that's what we've had before. They'll find a kitten a home, won't they?

I'm twisted into a knot about this. I'm so sad not to have our boy (yeah, we had him over 20 years and I still want more - aren't I greedy?) and don't feel ready, but I don't think I'll be ready till we have new heart-stealers in the house. Does that make sense?

Soooo cute!
Hope you have many happy years with them 😻😻

The second of our two cats died just before Christmas. She was very old and we knew it was coming and had decided to get new sofas and curtains once she had gone. But we missed her and now have two kittens - and our old sofas and curtains. And every day I’m sure we made the right decision. As have you.

You have done a wonderful thing, OP.

The original owners, however...

EachandEveryone · 12/07/2021 20:41

I know and i bet they dont get her fixed.

Ninkanink · 12/07/2021 20:42

@HaroldMeeker how have the kittens been today?

chipshopElvis · 12/07/2021 20:49

Aw they are too gorgeous! I'm glad you took 3.

Update. All 3 kittens settling in well. All boistrous, playful, eating well, using the tray more or less successfully, gallumphing round for a couple of hours and then collapsing for 5 hour naps.

So far we've kept them just in one room, and have decluttered the house this weekend to get ready to release them to explore their new home properly. We're a bit anxious as none of them are good at being picked up. Eddy positively avoids contact, but has just yesterday started using us as trampolines on his way to the toys. One girl is a bit reluctant still, but is coming round. The other girl, Willow, has relaxed pretty much completely and is happy to walk over our legs and even lie down on them, if she's occupied with her toy. I think it'll take a while and if they never become lap cats we can live with that, as long as they're happy, interacting and playful.

Thank you for the update - realise they must be keeping you very busy so appreciate the time taken, they’re pawsome ❤️
Is Eddy the mainly white one with black spots……she/he’s my fave ❤️

KarlMaldensNose · 17/07/2021 16:43

Just saw eddy was a boy❤️
That last photo is absolutely beautiful

ChequerBoard · 17/07/2021 16:51

Awww they are all just gorgeous. Love the speeding blur of black and white kitten in mid hunt!

Is Willow the grey and white one in the third picture? She looks like such a sweetie and well named, like willow pattern China!

KarlMaldensNose · 17/07/2021 17:07

I can see how Harold was unable to choose, gawd I’d love three kittens at once

HaroldMeeker · 17/07/2021 19:48

Eddy's the mostly white boy. Willow and Coco are very alike, but Willow's face markings are symmetrical while Coco has a black patch over her left eye, like a wee pirate.

Willow is nuts.
