Ivy and Betsy were mega cute with their food this morning. They had a bowl of felix and a bowl of Iams biscuits in both the living room and the kitchen.

But no obviously they both wanted just the one bowl of Iams in the living room.

They sat there for ages taking turns to take a couple of biscuits each. Then Betsy have ivy a good groom because her fur was wet from going outside.

It was so adorable. I wish I had filmed them!

All the lovely pics. Poor Basil and his cystitis. I'm away for the night so my sister is cat sitting. I wonder what time Tom will roll home. She isn't as soft as me and will close the window and go to bed. Poor Tom.

Was on the getting a kitten while having another cat thread. I'm thinking of getting Tom a pal. Is that a really stupid idea? The rescue I got Tom from have loads of kittens that need homes.

TheLongRider · 25/06/2021 13:15

Is Tom sociable with other cats? Usually the advice is to get a kitten of the opposite sex to your current cat. Having said that we have five cats, four boys and one girl and she dislikes two of the boys and the feeling is mutual.

Our most recent kitten from August last year is a boy. We thought it wouldn't be an issue as our youngest cat at the time was very friendly and sociable. Youngest cat took the new kitten as a deeply personal insult for four days. Total diva meowing and huffing about the place. The kitten was bemused but very polite and kept out of his way. On the fifth day the youngest cat discovered that the kitten was playful and they've been best friends ever since.

There's no way of knowing in advance how it'll work out. Over many years I've had more successful pairings than unsuccessful. Good luck.

We had a bit of hissing and spitting with the girls when we first introduced Betsy to Ivy. Just take it slow, separate rooms, scent swapping with beds and blankets and gentle introduction. Ivy became mum cat and was grooming tiny Betsy within a week. Then they started squishing themselves into the same tiny cat bed 😂

Feral friends kitten is now having his tummy tickled by friend and being washed by the dog who has decided kitten is his new pet Grin

TheLongRider · 25/06/2021 22:47

Have they named him yet? Has the resident cat come back to inspect his adoptee?

That is so sweet. I love to hear of cats bonding. Matt pretty much ignores Socks.
When I was a teenager we had a Siamese who had a friend who would call for him. And years later we had another Siamese who brought a stray home. He initially lived in the garage, then moved in one cold winter's night.

PawsQueen · 25/06/2021 23:33

Been called Lucky Smile
She has three cats already who seem totally not bothered by the new one

Do you have a photo of darling Lucky? I loved reading this.

Supersimkin2 · 26/06/2021 09:05

Pic pic please

AlfonsoTheMango · 26/06/2021 09:12

Yep. Posting rules - we need to see photos of the newcomer.

I wonder what kitten delivering cats angle is? “Here have this so I don’t have to deal with your bullshit” or “Your such good owners I saw this kitten and knew you’d love it”.

3rd option of “I’m moving in with the neighbours to be an only child, here’s my replacement so the dogs don’t get any ideas”.

PawsQueen · 26/06/2021 10:22

@Fluffycloudland77 I'm not too sure as she hasn't had the kitten delivering cat that long
She said it was more of a "here, found this, thought you might want it, goodbye" Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/06/2021 10:25

It beats the baby bunnies I used to get hands down.

Defiantly41 · 26/06/2021 11:09

Our elderly male intact Tom (from my childhood) brought home a 6-7 week old kitten once! A neighbour took her on and she was a beautiful cat.

He also escorted a pregnant female to our shed where she gave birth to 3 kittens, one of which lived with us to the age of 17.

Supersimkin2 · 26/06/2021 11:16

‘Wake up! Doing sweet FA as usual I see. I’m off out for Lambrusco and a shag. Keep that alive till I get back. Might be next week.’

PawsQueen · 26/06/2021 11:51

I'm hiding the kitten posts from Ollie, otherwise he will be out hunting for monochrome kittens to bring me

Justonedayatatime11 · 26/06/2021 12:29

Emergency 9pm vet dash last night for poor Dobby. Think DD trod on him but he was suddenly hobbling on 3 legs. £400 later and a strict instruction that he has to go on a diet and he's back home being looked after by Willow. I swear I've grown grey hairs overnight!

Poor Dobby!

But seriously Just, d'you live in my parents' house? The top of your stairs is exactly like theirs!!!

Justonedayatatime11 · 26/06/2021 12:46

@YesItsMeIDontCare I don't know, have they mentioned 16 cats floating around?! Grin

YesItsMeIDontCare · 26/06/2021 12:56

No, just the one. You'd think they'd notice another 16, but tbh my Mum's so laid back about animals possibly not enough to mention it. Dad might notice the spike in the cost of pet food though.

We're going there in a couple of weeks - I'll check the cupboards 😂.

cricketmum84 · 26/06/2021 14:25

Oh poor Dobby!! Hope he recovers quickly.

Still patiently (yeah whatever) waiting for feral kitten pics 😂 c'mon the suspense is killing me!

swampytiggaa · 26/06/2021 20:05

Poor dobby 😢 love the kitten story tho!

Wednesday was nearly homeless last night. I shut my bedroom door early on so I wouldn’t be winkling cats out at bedtime. Was shattered so went to sleep at 8pm (3am alarms are killing me 😭😭) midnight she’s yowling to be let out. Horrid creature. I don’t even get cuddles from her 😢
