I hope the cat hand over goes well.

This is what he got his toe stuck in Angry he had obviously jumped down from the windowsill with his back paw on it
His leg was all twisted. I think I need a brew and he's sat there like "what?"

Can you borrow a puppy training cage to put him to keep him safe. I'm only partially joking.

Cats can make a noise to wake the dead when they're stuck. Mouse occasionally gets his paw stuck in the catflap and I risk life and limb to get him unstuck. I need a stiff drink afterwards and he sits and glares at me as if it's my fault he got stuck in the first place.Flowers

I just keep thinking god what if I wasn't home and I was at work. He couldn't get any other part of him on the ground so was just dangling from this twisted leg
The vet is going to think I'm harming him Blush
As you can tell, he couldn't care less

I've had two cats that manages to tear their ACL ligaments requiring complete reconstruction in their knees, (not at the same time and in different circumstances).

Both made complete recoveries and lived to a ripe old age. The vet bills and cage rest were tricky. I wouldn't wish that on you. I know Ollie has kept many a vet busy.

Oh Ollie!

When Colli did something similar many years ago I taped cardboard to the top of the radiators - although obviously I could only do it in summer. Might be an idea? Or more likely to give Ollie a false sense of security? Colli was quite a smart cookie tbh.

Supersimkin2 · 10/06/2021 07:49

Have double breakfast for your nerves, assuming you’ve got any left.

Cardboard is a genius idea. As is keeping that window shut for a while - naturally, in the heatwave.

Supersimkin2 · 10/06/2021 07:54

Keep a massive cotton scarf to hand so you can at least cover the neck when you’re being savaged by your tiny helpless ball of fluff.

Don’t be embarrassed to have a brandy afterwards. He prob won’t do it again tho.

PawsQueen · 10/06/2021 07:58

Oh the window was shut! He just jumped up for well, absolutely no reason Confused different viewpoint maybe
Currently have towels on top of it, adding radiator shelf to "ollies costs"

cricketmum84 · 10/06/2021 08:52

Oh @PawsQueen he does like to worry you doesn't he!

Ivy once got tangled in the blinds at the living room window. The noises she was making were unlike anything I've ever heard, I managed to de tangle her receiving quite a few injuries in the process and getting covered in wee because she was so terrified.

We took the blinds down the same day.

I was the same as you though, don't think my heart rate returned to normal until the next day!

Supersimkin2 · 10/06/2021 10:56

Sympathies Flowers they love giving you the cardiac workout.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 10/06/2021 13:07

Ollie! Stop being a naughty boy and worrying Mama!

PawsQueen · 10/06/2021 13:48

I was contemplating cats being safer indoors, then after him dangling from the radiator realised he is just trouble wherever he is HmmGrin

Supersimkin2 · 10/06/2021 15:18

Grin Ollie has never done anything wrong. Ever.

PawsQueen · 10/06/2021 15:56

I had to ring the vet to pay today and she cheerfully said "oh yes my cat did that once. Kitchen handles are another one!"
Me < removes all kitchen handles >

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 10/06/2021 16:52

Kitchen handles

I misread that as 'Kitten handles'. It might explain the attraction Grin.

swampytiggaa · 10/06/2021 19:26

Morticia has taken to hiding under my bed then snuggling up to me when I’m asleep 💕 it’s lovely until she starts wailing at midnight when my alarm is set for 3am 😭😭

Supersimkin2 · 10/06/2021 19:35

Capn too fat to jump up - vast love handles.

Is your heart rate nearing normal yet @PawsQueen. Shame about the bank balance eh.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 10/06/2021 21:39

Oh dear. Is it time for a diet? Leroy is currently eating less because he's hot and bothered so I'm hoping to continue this reduced amount. I suspect it won't last 24hrs but I can at least try 🤷🏼‍♀️

Have you created some steps for him to get on the bed? It's the right thing to do.

How's it going without kitchen handles Queen? Broken nails yet? 😁

Papergirl1968 · 10/06/2021 22:12

Matt got caught in the blinds once when he was a kitten and I found him dangling by one leg. I seem to remember getting ripped to pieces freeing him. He was fine but the blinds were never the same again...
Is Ollie recovering from his run in with the car or whatever it was?

PawsQueen · 10/06/2021 22:21

He's definitely scared himself as he keeps sitting on the windowsill but he doesn't want to go outside. Between the sore front legs and then one back leg from the dangling, we are down to one good leg and one toof but he seems cheery enough. Mostly eating and napping and demanding cuddles

PawsQueen · 10/06/2021 22:22

In ollies defence, he didn't even claw me when I grabbed him, just dangled there wailing and still and let me rescue him. This is a cat that managed to get his own front claws hooked together and topple over though

Papergirl1968 · 10/06/2021 22:51

Bless him, he certainly worries his mama, and makes lots of money for the vet!

Supersimkin2 · 10/06/2021 23:33

A lot of very clever people are badly coordinated, is all. Ollie's skillset is more cultured and social.

Capns on me now, hassling for meal number six, which is pushing it even by my hopeless pet parenting standards. He's only lapping up the gravy out of the AGAIL, even naughtier. But I panic about his kidneys in this heat so he's getting away with murder.

Good luck with Leroy's diet - I don't envy you the hard stare at breakfast tomorrow.

coastergirl · 11/06/2021 14:19

Walter had his jabs this morning. The vet gave him a thorough check over and said he's in good nick. I'm really pleased with that.

cricketmum84 · 11/06/2021 14:48

Ivy and betsy melted in the heat
