Just seen that. Has anyone seen a thread saying anything other than "phone the vet"?

Cat coughed : They do, it's usually fine, phone your vet
Cat looks off colour : It happens, it's usually fine, keep an eye on him and phone your vet in the morning
Cat looks really ill : PHONE YOUR VET GO GO GO (but it does happen sometimes and they're fine after a painkiller, antibiotics and an eye-watering bill) HAVE YOU PHONED YOUR VET???
I think my cat's trying to kill me : Sounds about right, phone your vet if it's a change in behaviour
I have a new cat, can I join? : Not without photos, soz. Have you phoned your vet for a check up and vaccs?

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/04/2021 18:55

I have seen people advise it’s sulking behaviour when their ill but it’s been dealt with by more sensible posters.

I am tenuously related to a person who didn’t take their cat to a vet that had been showing obvious signs of illness for 4 days 🙄

Is it a doughnut bed @Animum2? I’ve heard they’re very popular.

QueenPaw · 22/04/2021 18:55

Mine is usually "Ollie looks weird. Best phone the vet" Grin
To be fair he's done
Looked at me when I touched him. Abscess
Didn't welcome me home. Raging temp and an infection
Looked funny. Triaditis
Sneezed. Tooth stuck in nose

coastergirl · 22/04/2021 19:44

Ollie is a special case ❤️

QueenPaw · 22/04/2021 22:26

I got this face when I told him he was a special case

Hi All, I hope that it is ok for me to join in? I have a 4 month old kitten who has been treated by the vet for ear mites already. Today I was giving him ear noogies in the same way that I would for my dog when a bit of ear wax fell out. We both regarded it with horror and it was taken as read that we would not refer to this awful incident again (by him at least). However he is now asleep so... can I ask, how do you clean your kitten’s ears?

YesItsMeIDontCare · 22/04/2021 23:16

@Thewolvesarerunningagain - I can't believe, after my last post, that I'm going to say this, but...

I'd ring your vet!!! Seriously though, you may be able to speak to a vet nurse who can give you advice without taking him in.

I'll @ TCN for you though.

@thecatneuterer are you able to advise?

The Litter Tray no.1 (and probably only) rule is that a photo of your cat/kitten is compulsory!

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 22/04/2021 23:27

OMG, I'm so sorry!! Here is pic of our boy

Thewolvesarerunningagain · 23/04/2021 00:10

Thanks for the reply Yesitsme!
He's been seen by his vet (for vacination) recently, and he (the vet) is happy. The boy's ears are healthy but ....NOOOGIESAREACE!!..,and I can identify with that! I've been trying to warm pet wipes and use these to clean his ears. He loves it in a pretty wild sort of way and I don't know if this is usual so I was asking how others deal with itchy kitten ears :-)

QueenPaw · 23/04/2021 00:32

I don't think a damp warm flannel would do any harm provided you're not delving around. Whether he will let you.. Grin

QueenPaw · 23/04/2021 17:17

Paw paws didn't look both ways and decided to stand in the road and stare at a car rather than moving. Ollie is judging him harshly

@Thewolvesarerunningagain he is a beauty. You can get eardrops that get shot of wax on Amazon. Buy it with some paint to match your favourite walls.

When Cap'n moved in, he had such bad earwax that it took a whole course just to loosen the top up, at which point, to his rage, I went in with wipes to make a hole for the next drops. Jaw dropping amounts, most satisfactory. His hearing improved.

When the drops of course 2 went in, my beloved little prince shook his head in outrage and ruined the sitting room decor in a moment. After a lot of shameful cursing and Benny Hill chasing round every night for a week, the wax cleared. Only took a fortnight to stop feeling sick.

Now he makes me get the wipes out every weekend - likes it.

TheSilveryPussycat · 23/04/2021 23:03

Cat sporn! Did you take pictures - they would love this on the Sporner thread?

Allergictoironing · 24/04/2021 08:46

Boycat adores having his ears cleaned. When I'm cuddling him he maneuvers my hand round until I'm rubbing the base of his ears all round, then sort of wriggles until I poke a finger inside his ear. He prefers Kleenex Aloe Vera tissues for the actual cleaning over wipes, kitchen roll or plain tissues.

Supersimkin2 · 24/04/2021 08:51

I was too busy gagging and being thrilled, Silvery. Chunks the size of peas, black, bwa ha ha.

He's on me now, grunty purring & thumping me with his tail while I scratch his armpits.

coastergirl · 24/04/2021 09:03

I need to hide this thread until talk of earwax has stopped. It's my nemesis. Makes me vom.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/04/2021 09:05

@Thewolvesarerunningagain he’s a beauty!. We had a silicone ear cleaner for ours once off the vets and it’s best administered outside. He had very clean ears for the rest of his life.

Our white cats had mucky ears that needed a wipe with a tissue.

QueenPaw · 24/04/2021 09:50

You so slow with that chicken human. Hurry UP

Hi all! Room for a small one? I'm a bit shaky having given Unlucky Cat his first injection of pain meds. Seemed to go ok, though, and hopefully will make his life a bit easier - absolutely hated taking them by mouth for some reason.

Thesilverpussycat love it 😂 Dog owners have it easy. My friend's puppy doesn't even care if it comes with cheese or not.

Supersimkin2 · 24/04/2021 12:53

@felinelucky someone's feeling very relaxed.

@QueenPaw Paws really loves you. That melting look of adoration ain't all for chicken.

QueenPaw · 24/04/2021 13:24

@Supersimkin2 you didn't see the previous face I got...

17 years ago, right now this very moment, I was sitting in a hospital bed in agony, shedding more blood than I thought possible whilst staring in to a small plastic bassinet thinking OMFG what have I done 😱.

Happy Birthday DS 😂

Lovely chap you've got there wolves. I need to know what a noogie is though.

Welcome felinelucky, that's a very skooshy looking tum - are skooshes permitted or does it cause bloodshed?

I do think Paws is very polite. A delay on the chicken warrants a blep imo 😁

YetAnotherSpartacus · 24/04/2021 15:13

^All that to create someone to walk Leroy.

Happy Birthingday!
