competitive weirdness please.

my boy’s favourite thing in the world is having his tail pulled. he reverses up to the sofa then does figure-eights so i can give his tail a good yank. for ages. he also eats my emery boards - he is obsessed.

is your cat weirder than mine?

My two Maine Coons love having their tales pulled - especially my girl.
Boy cat drinks by putting his floofy paw in the bowl and licking the water from his paw.

Mine is really weird with emery boards...she will gag when I start filing my nails, but refuse to move away and sit virtually on top of my while I do it...then try and chew the board.

She's similar with sellotape.

Our boy will only drink from the running kitchen tap, understandable but annoying.

They also ask to go to bed at 9pm 😂

Both UnreadyCats like to drink bathwater, but only if I'm in it. They will sit and wail on the side of the bath while it's running, until I get in.

When they have finished, they will jump down and sit and wail until I get out again.

Which is why whenever anyone suggests "a nice relaxing bath" I am

drinking bath water - that’s next level! mine will only drink from a mug so he has his own now. ridiculous creature.

i had a tortie girl who would pester for running water. she would shout (sounding exactly like Eliza Doolittle’s ‘AAAOW’ sound) until a willing human got the message.

mine also complains if i stay up too late!

Mine are obsessed by Emery boards also. When we had a new washing machine delivered, there were 7 under the old machine

Now I only file my nails in the bathroom, behind a locked door as he goes too wild for them otherwise.

They also both love water, and cry for the taps to be turned on. In summer I gave them a tray of water all of their own, which they bashed with a paw. We called that game, Fatty Splash.

They also cry to go to bed, but make it all the way to the wild old time of 11.10 precisely.

Mine thinks that the garage is the best place in the world. He only has to hear us open the door from the kitchen and he's out there like a shot. Doesn't matter if its dark or cold.

My cat gets lost in our house every single evening. He spends the day zooming up and down the stairs but come bedtime when the lights go off downstairs and we all go to bed he forgets we have an upstairs and he runs around downstairs going in and out of the rooms crying for us then as soon as I call him he remembers there is an upstairs and darts upstairs, checks we’re all in our individual rooms and then sleeps on the landing. But never in the same place and for a black cat in a landing with no window that’s dangerous game to play

Our girl loves the gap between in our basement between the walls and the lining, makes a run for the cupboard to get access when she hears you turn the handle 🙄 one day she'll get stuck!

Toto is in love with the fluffy orange blanket on the sofa. He humps it while kneading on a daily basis. It's a bit disturbing if you're not expecting it and have the blanket over your knees...

Say to DCat2 'Flopsy woo' & he throws himself down onto his side then rolls over so you can blow raspberries on his belly.

DCat1 likes to go to sleep in wardrobes.

Mine drinks my tea and coffee if I make the mistake of leaving it lying around.

I'm not entirely sure the caffeine is a good idea...

My childhood cat used to insist on her claws being filed if I was doing mine.

My own over the years have many "quirks"
Trying to chew spent matches. Only drinking water out of a special glass. Playing in water including having a bath......while I'm in it 😏
Only a few examples.....too many to mention.

The demands to regularly inspect my wardrobe 🤷🏽‍♀️ I mean why???

i made the mistake of teaching mine to give me a paw to get his dreamies. now when he decides it’s time for dreamies he follows me around vainly tapping my feet with his paw.

at this point i’m resigned to just being Staff.

My dcat loves vegetables.. Dc usually set him a place and a plate at the table. Or he steals off their plates.

Mine lies down to do scratchy post.

She also has a thing about Being Seen sitting on a lap, so if she's curled up on me and DH comes into the room she scrambles to get away and runs and 'hides' (her idea of hiding is running upstairs and lying on her back with her paws in the air in the middle of our bed ) Same if she's sitting on DH and I come in the room.

We've got bird feeders outside the front window for the huge crowd of sparrows that live in the hedge. She completely ignores the sparrows but occasionally a pigeon turns up and OMG you should hear the swears! She will literally fling herself at the window.

She's not as weird as dear departed ancient cat who overthought catflaps. In her mind, if you pushed the flap from one side, you must have to pull it from the other side. We always thought she was just being a dick demanding to be let in by a human when she'd had no problem letting herself out through the flap - until the day we got a new cat tray with a lid and a cat flap and discovered her stuck inside it, patiently trying to pull open the flap with her little paw. She was a bit dusty and big eyed but otherwise OK.

Ancient cat also once punched me in the face for whistling a tune to her. Proper closed fist punch.

My cat has a thing for the plastic screen cover on new tablets and phones. She sniffs it and dribbles copiously.
She is also a cup/glass paw dunker.
She eats her food off a plate because it's easier to paw one biscuit from one, she will also sit by her plate, if I'm in the kitchen and expects me to put some biscuits on the side, then I have to stroke her from head to tail, then she'll eat them.
I had a cat that went dribbly over elastoplast and another that went nuts over polos and I knew a cat that was evil over lettuce.

Little boy likes to let his tail soak while you're in the bath.

He also brings in sticks like a dog. Here's one of his many collections.

Ours is nuts - went to great effort yesterday to open my daughters bedroom door so he could pounce on her and attack her then calmly jumped off the bed and waited at the door to be let back out .

Mine sits like Henry VIII 😂

My cat tells me (vocally and very loudly) that she doesn't give two hoots if I'm eating dinner/working/cleaning/knitting, I WILL go to bed and she WILL be getting under the duvet and having a 40 minute fuss until she falls asleep. She will wake up howling and make me get out of bed and back in again if I do it wrong.

mine waits til i’m in bed and stands on my face to show how much he loves me.

if i’m on the sofa he comes and stands on me for a fuss and without fail manages to land a paw on each of the screws in my left knee. he is HEAVY.

regarding Fuss, he likes to be flirted with. so i’m allowed to touch a whisker, then the tip of an ear, then a cheek, and only then can i fuss his whole head. i’ve had him 3.5 years, i’ve no idea why he still insists on this ridiculousness.
