Do your cats have a cat bed?

Or do they just sleep wherever they want in the house?

Am contemplating getting one of those very fluffy squishy ones I keep seeing, but wonder if it’s going to be a total waste of money and they’ll just carry on attempting to sit on my chair!!

My cats have their own beds but still sleep anywhere they damn well please.

generallygenial · 26/12/2020 16:53

No bed, he has a towel on the sofa to stop it getting furry. He gets annoyed if anyone is sitting in 'his spot' when he wants to go to bed at exactly 10pm Grin

Ignored the nice bed we bought when we first got him. Did sleep in a cardboard box for a while though! Cosy...

Youvegotafriendinme · 26/12/2020 16:53

They have a bed but one sleeps on the floor the other sleeps on the microwave no matter how hard I try to stop him

dementedpixie · 26/12/2020 16:55

We got rid of various cat beds and they sleep on floors, couches, computer chairs and in cardboard boxes (their favourite)

The first 2 pictures are 2 cats using the same box on a rota system Grin. Only 1 of the cats uses the box on the cat tree

We have several cat beds.....the cats sleep anywhere/everywhere else BUT those beds....

elsaesmeralda · 26/12/2020 16:55

He will sleep anywhere but a cat bed

floppybit · 26/12/2020 16:55

I've had kittens for 4 weeks, I bought them each a fluffy igloo bed, which they have completely ignored. They sleep on the sofa on the throw I bought to put over me when I'm watching TV. Needless to say I haven't got under that throw since.

ipswichwitch · 26/12/2020 16:56

Not a cat bed, no. She does have a cardboard box, the shoe basket by the back door, the bottom of the wardrobe, DS2’s bed, the laundry basket and any drawer she can stuff herself in!

minipie · 26/12/2020 16:56

She has a felt cave which she loves, but only in winter. In warmer months she sleeps wherever, often on the windowseat or DH’s seat on the sofa. Any bed would be too warm I suspect.

She’s also quite partial to the warmer spots in our underfloor heating so we find her stretched out in various inconvenient and ever changing spots.

swampytiggaa · 26/12/2020 16:57

I have a bed on the radiator... 2 at a time sleep in that. Otherwise they like a bed or the settee

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/12/2020 16:57

Ours sleep wherever they want. Current night-time pattern is Basil and Karl on our bed, Sybil on the kitchen table and Lenny curled up in the hall upstairs.

We have never bothered with actual cat beds - I'm pretty sure they would ignore them out of spite Grin.

floppybit · 26/12/2020 16:58

@dementedpixie love how they barely fit inside!

Tenyearsgone · 26/12/2020 16:58

I've given up with cat beds.Cat has several sleeping places he uses on a monthly basis. His current favourite is on a fluffy throw on the spare room bed.

pinbinpin · 26/12/2020 16:59

Mine now has a nice IKEA dolls bed but ignored it for the 8 years until the day I put it on the table ready to take to dump. Since then she has been glued to it. I also repurposed an old baby basket thing which she now uses as a bed in the living room. She'd always prefer to be on the bed with someone though.

EverythingsComingUpRoses · 26/12/2020 17:02

Mine have several beds which all get used depending how their moods take them

But they also like the arm of the sofa, anyone's bed, the bath mat, the kitchen table and the middle of the landing

Squaretoe · 26/12/2020 17:04

My old boy cat never slept in his bed, always the sofa or a blanket. My girl cat LOVES her blanket and her bed, it makes me feel a bit emosh when she climbs into it because she looks so happy BlushGrin

WhoaBettyWhite · 26/12/2020 17:04

My two terrorise the dog, stalk and stare him down until he removes himself from his own bed where they both flop onto and stay all night and sometimes all day..!!

Supersimkin2 · 26/12/2020 17:05

Yep, it's a kingsize walnut deco bed with a down duvet and I am allowed the top left corner. Sometimes.

CMOTDibbler · 26/12/2020 17:17

Cat 1 does use a cat bed in dhs office (on the desk) but also sleeps on a folded up duvet with a heating pad in the utility room that we managed to swap in from her sleeping in the wash basket. Cat 2 has a cat igloo thing in the kitchen, but mostly sleeps on a beanbag footstool or the sofa. Cat3 will occasionally sleep in a dog bed but prefers generally to balance on the radiator

swampytiggaa · 26/12/2020 17:23

Gomez and Wednesday in a bed made for one 🙂

SnowyZoey · 26/12/2020 17:54

Dcat has zero interest in cat beds - no point buying them we’ve found.

Beamur · 26/12/2020 18:01

One cat loves a cardboard box. The other 2 like a radiator bed, the rug in front of the fire or my bed. Depends which is warmest..

kimlo · 26/12/2020 18:04

they have a bed each. One is ignored, the other one is a tent bed thing that they sleep on top of not inside of. Otherwise they just sleep where anywhere.

QueenPawPaws · 26/12/2020 18:05

Yep, an igloo one which has a self reflecting heat mat on, and a fluffy marshmallow one. Uses both

BarkHoneyBark · 26/12/2020 18:05

Bought the most expensive cat bed tower for old cat when we got puppy.

Entirely ignored it in favour of puppy’s new fluffy bed, which is now the cat’s bed.
