Do your cats have a cat bed?

Or do they just sleep wherever they want in the house?

Am contemplating getting one of those very fluffy squishy ones I keep seeing, but wonder if it’s going to be a total waste of money and they’ll just carry on attempting to sit on my chair!!

Yes they have a bed, ours.

QuantumJump · 26/12/2020 18:06

Yes, we have two cats, they have a bed each and do sometimes sleep on them. But also sleep on the beanbag / beds / pile of clean washing etc.

TreacleHart · 26/12/2020 18:06

Our cat has many cat beds / igloos etc.
However, her favourites are my dressing gown after I've taken it off as it's warm from my body heat ( and I now make it into a nest shape ) and leave on the bed for her.
Also a fluffy hoodie that had fell off a chair and went on the floor near a radiator which she sleeps on at night so hasn't been picked up for a couple of months 😂😂

SassenachWitch · 26/12/2020 18:15

Yes, she has a lovely King size, with beautiful sheets, matching throw and cushions.

It used to be mine, but she spends much more time in it than me, so now it’s hers Xmas Grin

Seriously though, we’ve tried loads of different cat beds, she hates them all. She sleeps wherever she likes, on whichever bed she chooses during the day, the sofa of an evening, and my bed at night.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/12/2020 18:18

You’re better off buying a dog bed, they have better padding. Our niece bought her kittens a fluffy one and they love it.

Ultimately if you have a bed they have a bed.

KaleKitchen · 26/12/2020 18:22

Mine has three beds in different spots and he LOVES his beds - but he was a street cat we adopted who had nothing and truly appreciates every single thing we get him. It's so touching!

TweeVi · 26/12/2020 18:33

He gets annoyed if anyone is sitting in 'his spot' when he wants to go to bed at exactly 10pm

Ours is just like this! 😆
We have a cat bed that is ignored in favour of the sofa.

SimonJT · 26/12/2020 18:35

She has a superking cat bed with a tempur mattress and linen cover, she sometimes lets the humans share it.

She does have a lovely wooden bed from lazy days pet beds, she sometimes goes in it, but only if she sees the dog going near it.

Lindy2 · 26/12/2020 18:43

She has a lovely igloo shaped cat bed. She only goes in there if something has scared her. Generally we use it for keeping all her cat toys in.

Her beds are, every human bed in the household, every arm chair and sofa, under or beside any radiator, random areas of carpet wherever the fancy take her, on the stairs (the higher level of trip hazard risk the better) plus most windowsills especially if sunny and including a view of some squirrels. These are all used in rotation during the course of the day.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/12/2020 18:49

If they like windowsills put a fleece on there with a hot water bottle, it keeps them occupied for hours.

Ours ambivalent about one of his dog beds till I said to dh I was binning it. He wasn’t even in the house when I said it.

Dhs family cat used the dog bed, probably to wind the dog up.

GreenCat44 · 26/12/2020 19:09

Mine have squishy beds, but they are on my bed so take up more space than just cats with no beds Confused

We have a large cat tree in the window which she will sleep in during the day. It acts as cat television for her. The rest of the time the only suitable place to sleep is a human lap. At night she's on our bed.

violetbunny · 26/12/2020 19:37

I've bought several cat beds and none of them ever get used. Both sleep on our bed at night. Boycat will sleep in the cat tower or under the coffee table, while GirlCat has a cosy spot on top of my wardrobe.

Oldraver · 26/12/2020 19:44

The original owl cat bed I bought for Col had never been used and had been eyed suspiciously ever since

He slept on our bed from day one with the odd bit of sleeping elsewhere. I bought him a sort of donut bed and it took him a time to be coaxed into it

He won't leave it now

Bought mine a superb soft squishy bed which sine the day they arrived they have eyed with great suspicion, practically turning themselves inside out if they suspect they might come close. They have a selection of 3 igloo beds, both like the medium one, Boycat likes the large one, neither like the smaller one (big enough for either cat to use).

Instead they use my bed during the day, the pile of disused clothing on the floor of the corner fitted wardrobe, under the bed, on the sofa, on the back of the sofa. Girlcat also likes a dining chair, the top platform on the cat tree and on top of a box under the window that has a reflective padded fleece thing on it. Boycat likes failing to get into the smaller cave on the cat tree (pic attached), where he fondly thinks he's hidden!

My cat is huge. He has a dog bed. He also sleeps wherever he pleases. But he does sleep in his bed during the winter over night.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 26/12/2020 21:41

Our boy cat likes to sleep in DH's pants drawer 🙈 Each to their own, I guess...

LegoPandemic · 26/12/2020 21:42

Yes and they sleep in it all day.

Ours never goes near any specially designed and bought cat bed. She sleeps under the bed, on the bed and in the wardrobe. In the summer she sleeps under bushes or in long grass next to the fence.

MustDust · 26/12/2020 21:46

Yes, she has 2 and will use them, but also sleep on DS's bed or in a cupboard. He won't use them at all and prefers to sleep across the top of the stairs to try and kill you or in our room where he's not allowed (turns out DH is a bit allergic, oops!).

BlackCatsRule88 · 26/12/2020 21:48

My cat did have a lovely fluffy bed which was resolutely ignored in favour of sleeping on any chair she chooses, on top of the boiler cupboard, a spot under the hedge in the summer, on the bed or a particular favourite is on the floor of the landing in the middle of the night where she’ll be tripped over... I gave up on said lovely cat bed and gave it to a cat rescue

Ours has her own plush, warm pyramid style bed plus another place she's adopted as a bed which we have made cozy with blankets etc. She sleeps usually in this place or on a bed but sometimes she will sleep on a sofa! In the summer she will sleep on dining chairs or the floor.

Want2beme · 26/12/2020 22:35

generallygenial exactly 10pmGrin

One of mine uses his beds and the other one sleeps on a pet blanket on my bed, but she sleeps in other places as well. I'm tempted to buy one of the beds you're taking about.

madcatladyforever · 26/12/2020 22:41

My little bean has one of those big squishy beds off Amazon and she loves it. I've washed it twice in the washing machine now and it's come up lovely each time.
The old girl loves her comfort and has one up and one down.
