My 6 year old cat has died suddenly this evening

She was six. A long haired Chantilly mix.

My son, 14, in his room. She was sat on his spare chair, he said she started choking, launched into the closed door. Fell to the ground, tongue out panting.

DH who was working in the room next door scooped her up, brought her outside, tried cpr breathing in mouth, massaging throat etc with other son.

They raced her up the vets 2 mins away. Vet took her in room but she was gone

Vet said nothing in airways.
The son who saw it us traumatised. I'm in shock. I don't know what happened. Can I talk to you on here as this game face is killing me.

Thanks. Today has been hard. It was my day off and I just moped around my room as going to the kitchen, overlooking her garden is too hard.

We did manage a walk later to place some poppies at the local war memorial, this helped.

Coincidentally I lost another cat 10 years ago on Remembrance Day. She was 11 though and PTS to ease her pain. What are the chances of that?

Hoping tomorrow will be more bearable.

The vet's rang. Throughout this we have decided to bring her ashes back and in the spring we will scatter them under her favourite bush. She likes (can't bring myself to use the past tense) to shade there and gave me the fright of my life this summer as I was pruning. She came darting out and I didn't know she was there, she was so happy always, a ball of energy and love.

I'm so sorry, it is an absolute shock to lose them so suddenly.

I lost my cat Troy just over 4 years ago, he was nearly 6 (he was born 2 days before my niece) and had been diagnosed with hypertropic cardiomyopathy a few months before and was in heart failure. Although the vet said he may only live 6 months from when he was diagnosed, I knew that his time with me was precious but I can still remember the night leading up to when he suddenly died. It will never leave me.

I had a kitten in September 2019 and purposely got one who wasn't black and white like my beloved Troy.

Sending love to you and your son. I too know the pain of losing a much loved cat xxx

Thank you. I'm so sorry to hear about your losses too.
The grief came in waves again today and I had to make arrangements with the vet.

I'm trying to save my Ring video footage from the camera overlooking the kitchen/garden. Seeing me interacting with her is providing some comfort. She was so loved and so were we.
