I'm going to be a foster mum (granny?)!

We lost our beautiful, gentle DC Amber at the beginning of May and have been patiently (and not so patiently) waiting for a pair of kittens to fill the massive cat-shape hole in our home and hearts.

Waiting lists for kittens at resscues where we live a ridiculously long so I found myself the other day respnding to a Facebook message asking for foster families for mums and kittens and I've just found out we are picking up a mum and her 4 babies tomorrow!

Super-excited but also a bit nervous. Poor mum gave birth a week ago and now is being uprooted into a unknown home. Just wondering if anyone has any tips?

The classic tactic TwigTheWonderKid! Making him think that the kittens' welfare is entirely down to him. It's worked a treat. Well played! They are seriously gorgeous kitten and mother cat is gorgeous too. Hard choices!

The only problem with a white cat is SO MUCH HAIR. I got my office chair brought here sine I am now WFH and of course she likes to sleep on it, meaning I always have a white, hairy bottom. She also likes to sleep on DP’s laptop, and has broken quite a few of his keys. Good job we love her.

A towel may be answer .... having said that, my cats would just sleep on the towel as well😊

Pretty good today except she tried to move them all to a bedroom which is a total dumping ground. I had to move them back as I there was no way they'd be safe in there and it would be even more of a nightmare to get to them than under the bed. Plus they've got fleas so that's my exciting job fr tomorrow! They are much more on the move now (which may be why she wanted to relocate them) and it's very entertaining to watch them stumbling around.

bargebill19 we have throws on the sofas, armchair, and beds, plus a tablecloth on the kitchen table because she likes to lie on there while I am working at it. She does have a proper (White, faux fur) bed she sleeps in, so often she can be ported about quite easily, but she runs this house and knows it! Tbh for a short-haired cat she is very long-haired, if that makes sense, shaggy rather than sleek.

What poor wee toots to have fleas, twig, bless them. How old are they?

They're only 3 weeks old so I need to get on top of it asap as I know fleas can kill kittens.

How are the wee ones, twig? I didn't realise fleas were so serious for kittens (we've never had a tiny before, just adult cats). Hope you've had a successful mission.

They are super-cute @Judystilldreamsofhorses. Have treated them for the fleas with the only thing you can use on tiny kittens but now I'm terried that I gave them too much. I'm sure kitten rearing is much more stressful than child rearing.

We are almost flea-free.

They are awake a lot more now and are very entertaining. Smudge climbed up my leg this morning: I will only be wearing jeans for the foreseeable future!
