Cat tree purchase regret

Got talked into buying a new cat tree for our two normal sized cats....clearly the measurements didn’t quite register in my head when ordering on line. Luckily they seem to have taken to it..

I can’t tell what’s wrong. Is it too big or too small?.

Celticdawn5 · 12/07/2020 08:34

Oh. It’s massive. Sorry , cat on the top shelf for perspective? Maybe I’m over reacting to having it in the house and have just not got used to it yet

It looks fine to me. Ours is at least as tall as I am (and I'm 5"2). Cats like to be up high, ours overlooks the window to the garden so they can watch over it like overlords Grin

Soubriquet · 12/07/2020 09:02

That’s massive?

That’s quite small I thought. You can get ones that actually go right up to the ceiling

At least it’s not a dollhouse version though Grin

OohKittens · 12/07/2020 09:02

This is mine

I see I’m way behind in the Cat Tree stakes! @Oohkittens
And @Soubriquet
It was meant to go in front of a window but it just was too awkward and got in the way of another doorway .Prior to this purchase I had used cardboard boxes which did the job and cost nothing.
Yes, it would have been worse to end up with a dolls house sized one.
I made a few Lockdown purchases which have had to be returned ( not cat related)

I needed a large one, my ragdoll boy is 28lbs and I've just got a norweigan forest kitten.

YesItsMeIDontCare · 12/07/2020 09:41

You've bought a cat tree that your cats actually use. That is a massive win!

CherryPieSky · 12/07/2020 09:42

Your cat is very lucky! I wouldn't have one of these things in my house Grin

YesItsMeIDontCare · 12/07/2020 09:47

Christ on a furry bike @OohKittens that's bloody big for a Raggie!!! Average size is 5 - 6kg!!!

Allergictoironing · 12/07/2020 10:24

My only criticism would be that it's far too short to keep mine happy. Girlcat loves to perch on the top most platform of my 5 foot cat tree to watch the world go by.

Want2beme · 12/07/2020 10:49

It looks great to me. Mine don't have these, they have barrels, that they seem to like.

28lbs! Amazing! Any chance of a photo? @OohKittens
@YesItsMeIDontCare that is partly why I held back buying one of these before.
The sisal mat £25 totally ignored and the scratching post upstairs too in favour of landing carpet( landing and stairs the only carpet in our house)
Which is shredded

We have a big tall one. Dpuppy still reached and tried to remove dcat by a back leg!!
Shock

Celticdawn5 · 12/07/2020 11:16

I mean more of a close up @OoHKittens, I take it they are on their cat tree?

Celticdawn5 · 12/07/2020 11:20

I have just googled images of a Norwegian Forest Cat, and they look tremendous

OP posts:
OohKittens · 12/07/2020 11:30

I will have to take one of him full body but he is huge. We got him at age 5 (he is now 8) and his diet was bad he ate everything that people ate. His last owner spoilt him but when she was moving in with her partner it was him or the cat. He is on royal canin now but is still food obsessed. He goes for walks on his lead but otherwise is very lazy.

We have the xxl barrel too and my tortie loves it. The ginger likes one that hangs from the radiator

Celticdawn5 · 12/07/2020 11:36

@OohKittens thank you. He looks lovely. Probably just as well you say he is lazy, I’d hate to think what a cat that size might bring home after a night of hunting.
I wonder if his previous owner thinks she might have made the wrong choice?

Celticdawn5 · 12/07/2020 11:38

Cross posted with your Norwegian first cat pic. He looks very settled already.

OP posts:
OohKittens · 12/07/2020 11:44

The poor thing mourned for her awful it took six months for him to settle with us. He has a very distinct cry when he is happy (sounds like a goat) and I remember when we first heard it. He does it all the time now Smile

YesItsMeIDontCare · 12/07/2020 12:06

Poor baby 😔. What weirdo picks a man over a cat?

My cousin has a Norwegian Forest. She's absolutely enormous. (The cat, not my cousin!)

MsSweary · 12/07/2020 12:13

I bought DCATS (raggies) a massive, very expensive and gorgeous tree. It just had everything and was tres stylish.

Do litter tray posters know that cats can actually make cats bum faces when they're disappointed with their owner?

Fluffycloudland77 · 12/07/2020 12:13

We know a woman who rehomed her bonded cat when her new chap moved in. He died a few years later.

I have a dim view of her partner anyway because dh sequels like a pig.
