He hasn’t come home ☹️

I need someone to tell me he’s going to stroll in at any moment!

He’s never spent the night outside. Until last night. He didn’t come home, and is still MIA.

I’ve never had a missing pet - it’s awful 😭

He hasn’t come home ☹️

Hugs.
One of mine went missing for a few days earlier this month. She's generally quite predicable but occasionally hunts so isn't hungry on cue.
She has returned, hungry and thirsty, but none the worse for her adventure.
I think this is prime wanderlust time for cats so hopefully yours will be home soon.
We think ours might have been shut in somewhere - do you have a local Facebook page where you could ask people to check sheds etc?

Xmasfairy86 · 27/06/2020 19:52

I’ve posted on the FB lost pets page, and in our street WhatsApp as well as my FB.

He’s never wandered too far from home, so that was my first thought. He’s a nosey so and so, so it wouldn’t surprise me. I’m going to make some notes to post through neighbours doors tomorrow to ask them to check.

The problem is it’s so windy you can’t hear anything when you’re out looking/calling.

It was a hot day so sheds will have been opened to get paddling pools open etc.

Try the immediate neighbours first. Even I’d check the shed for a missing cat.

Blueuggboots · 27/06/2020 20:41

Oh no! It's horrible when they're missing! Hope he turns up soon. DaffodilDaffodil

Sparklingbrook · 27/06/2020 20:44

That feeling when they do this to you! Urgh. My neighbour's cat did this twice and came home 3 days later both times.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 27/06/2020 20:45

Oh he's a handsome and very distinctive boy .

YY to ask your neighbours just to double check any sheds or kids playhouses that might have been open and he's locked in.

Surely no-one would objevt to a couple of minutes to check .

Our male is occasionaly a bit tardy , he likes a fenced off area in NDN garden. I shake their biscuits in the metal tin , the noise carries well

Hope he wanders in very soon demanding supper .

ladymary86 · 27/06/2020 20:58

OP my cat took himself away on a two week stroll once and came back like lord of the manor be ate a mountain of food.
My sisters male cat did it recently too (only a week mind you!)
Has he been neutered?

Xmasfairy86 · 27/06/2020 21:17

He is neutered, and chipped

ladymary86 · 27/06/2020 21:23

My boy was neutered when he did it. There is definitely hope OP! Keep us updated x

Xmasfairy86 · 28/06/2020 06:49

Been for a walk shaking treats and calling. Nothing ☹️ My hope he was in a garage is diminishing

concernedforthefuture · 28/06/2020 06:55

Both of mine have previously gone missing for 2-4 nights before turning up hungry and covered in cobwebs having obviously been shut in a garage / shed.
Make some leaflets to pop through neighbours' doors asking them to check for you.
Hang his bedding on the washing line (and put some used litter outside of he has a tray), so if he's wandered he'll be able to smell his way home.
I'm sure he'll be home soon.

Xmasfairy86 · 28/06/2020 07:37

His litter tray is out. Will pop his blanket out.

Thank you for the positive stories, it gives me some hope. The kids are now upset - they don’t know how to react.

OP posts:
Fluffycloudland77 · 28/06/2020 09:16

Can you get the kids and go round the neighbours asking for them to check garages and sheds while you call him?.

You’d think they’d miaow vociferously when trapped but sometimes they go quiet instead.

Xmasfairy86 · 28/06/2020 09:19

They’re making some notes to put through doors. I’m trying to remain positive but it’s difficult

milienhaus · 28/06/2020 10:43

Oh no :( good luck with your search! Hopefully he’s just had a fun adventure and is on his way back as we speak!

Sunnydayshereatlast · 28/06/2020 10:49

One of our dcats went for 6 months.
Another it turned out had 2 homes!! When he went missing someone else put posters up!!
If the weather was rubbish yesterday maybe he ventured a bit far in the wind and got disorientated...
Keep shouting for him op!!

Beamur · 28/06/2020 14:52

A friend's cat went missing for 11 days last year.
I wouldn't give up hope yet, but it's a very upsetting experience.

madcatladyforever · 28/06/2020 15:38

I really hope he comes home, keeping everything crossed. I'm sure if he's been in an accident someone would have taken him to the vets.
My ginger cat Tom went missing for 2 weeks once, the only time he didn't come home and then one day strolled back in clearly well fed. That was 30 years ago, he lived to around 16 and never went missing again, I never did find out where he had been.

thecatneuterer · 28/06/2020 16:13

The best thing you can do would be to actually knock on the doors of all the surrounding houses and ask them to check their sheds/garages/greenhouses while you wait. He is most likely to be stuck in one quite nearby. Then, for houses further away - leaflets and posters. But knocking on doors is by far the best way to find him.

Emmapeeler1 · 28/06/2020 18:20

It is so stressful. My cat went missing and turned up 3.5 years later - he was living round the corner under a pseudonym. Google lost cat behaviour for some insight. And put out hot tuna in the evening or early morning, they can smell it better hot. I know several people whose cats mysteriously vanished for a few days and tuna helped. Fingers crossed he will just wander home again.

Emmapeeler1 · 28/06/2020 18:21

Defo check garages though. A cat once got stuck in ours. Luckily we go in a lot.

Xmasfairy86 · 28/06/2020 18:24

Thanks all. Lots to do. Feeling a bit more positive

OP posts:
Wolfiefan · 28/06/2020 18:28

Catneuterer gives great advice. Both mine have form for getting locked in sheds or garages or even shut in an empty property.

Beamur · 28/06/2020 18:48

My DH asked some neighbours to check sheds and cat came home within the hour after that! Might have been a co-incidence but maybe not. Haven't actually seen them to ask and DH can't remember who he asked!

Xmasfairy86 · 28/06/2020 19:41

How do I stop the hot tuna drawing all the neighbourhood cats to my door!?
