He hasn’t come home ☹️

I need someone to tell me he’s going to stroll in at any moment!

He’s never spent the night outside. Until last night. He didn’t come home, and is still MIA.

I’ve never had a missing pet - it’s awful 😭

You need to knock on doors. If he’s in a shed or garage he has no water.

Fettfrett · 28/06/2020 19:51

Flyers through neighbours doors or knock-on door, asking them to check outbuildings. My boy has done this twice. Once he was gone 2 days and reappeared half an hour after we asked the gardens backing onto us to check sheds, the other time he was in an elderly neighbours house and he hadn't noticed him for 3 days. He rang on day 4 to say could we come and get him.

Sunnydayshereatlast · 28/06/2020 20:12

If you are on fb look at a' local fb 'page. Stick an ad up there. If you aren't ask a neighbour if they are /can for you. Ring local vets too.

Sunnydayshereatlast · 28/06/2020 20:13

Also ring local council. Sadly any dcats that their dept find they aren't obliged to scan for chip..
Ridiculous if you ask me.
Sorry to mention that but better to know than not..

We’ve knocked, and flyered. FB post on the lost pet page as well as mine. Updates the chip company and tomorrow will be calling the vets/council.
His litter tray is outside, the hoover has been emptied in the garden, his blanket is in the side garden and tuna will go down later

Thanks for all the suggestions

My cat went missing twice and both times was shut in a shed that came to light after putting notes through doors. Fingers crossed he will just stroll up as if nothings happened.

LockdownHairdo · 28/06/2020 21:42

One of mine went missing for 8 days at this time of year once. Strolled in after I'd given up hope of seeing him again. Never did tell me where he'd been. Do ask all your neighbours to check their sheds, though. Is anyone away? Just in case he's got shut in.

Vinorosso74 · 28/06/2020 21:52

Do you use Nextdoor at all? That is useful for reuniting cats. I live in London and a cat was recently found around our way from another part of London. He was a friendly soul and luckily chipped so went back home. Most are local finds though!

Xmasfairy86 · 28/06/2020 21:59

I am on Nextdoor but have never used it. May pop a post on.

Don’t really know many of the neighbours. We tried to set up a street WhatsApp for when Covid-19 started but out of 150 ish houses only 30 are a part of it. They’ve all been really nice offering to help look.

Both my girls are now upset and missing him. I don’t know what to tell them

It doesn't hurt to post on there. Do a normal post rather than lost/found as they seem to generate more replies.
I hope he turns up.

3catsandcounting · 29/06/2020 00:17

I can't count the amount of times my various cats have disappeared over the years. Some for a couple of days, one or two of them for a few weeks! They all returned, usually as if nothing had happened.

I know that feeling of hopelessness and worry. I spent far too long peering out of windows and listening for the cat flap; the waiting seems endless and I couldn't concentrate on anything else.

I've become a bit more resilient over the years and remember these crwatures

3catsandcounting · 29/06/2020 00:20

Oops, posted too soon, on a typo!!

These creatures of ours are a fickle lot, but please don't give up hope.

Xmasfairy86 · 29/06/2020 14:23

He isn’t home. But I have one cat that is hampering progress. He lives a couple of doors down and is, according to other neighbours, not allowed in his home. So is an outside outside cat. Is this even a thing? Do people really have cats that are not allowed in?!

So sad to read this. You've been given great advice and I do hope your boy turns up. Ours wondered off for a good few hours the other day when it was 30+ degrees, didn't come back for his dinner which just isn't like him, I went out a few times calling him, the last time I walked back into the garden and he was sat there staring at me! I don't know where they go but I'm holding out hope for you

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 29/06/2020 19:26

I have one that goes missing for a couple of nights at a time. She usually goes back to where we used to live it's only a few streets away. I've got a couple of lovely ex neighbours who text me if they see her!
DaffodilDaffodilhope he's home soon.

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/06/2020 19:43

Some people don’t let their cats in, it’s incredibly cruel imo unless it’s a farm cat whose worst nightmare is people (sudden realisation I’m a farm cat) .

Dh used to go out at night with a torch looking for our cat, their eyes reflect well in the light. He didn’t always find him but it made us feel better.

Xmasfairy86 · 29/06/2020 20:33

Aren’t we all farm cats in disguise?! 😂

Might do that later fluffy - wind is still quite strong so hearing anything is very difficult. Now to find a torch!

I don’t get why you’d have a cat and not let it in? Seems a bit pointless

Do people really have cats that are not allowed in ?

Yes one of my neighbours had a cat that lived out all year . Once it was snowing , the cat was on the fence mewing into their house with snow piing up on her back Sad

Our own cat had a standard cat door (not one of the snazzy microchip ones that the current pair have)

The outdoor cat never came near our catdoor . But our cat used to invite another cat in and go into his house for supper

Beamur · 29/06/2020 21:54

Still not back?
Got everything crossed for you.

Xmasfairy86 · 29/06/2020 22:31

Still not home ☹️

Aww, he’s a lovely boy. My cat used to go wandering in the summer, the heat gets to them and they go loopy.
Hope he returns soon with his tail between his legs.

Xmasfairy86 · 01/07/2020 00:16

He’s home 😊
So relieved!

Thanks for everyone’s positive thoughts and advice.

He hasn’t stopped purring.... forgot how loud he was!!
