I'm falling in love with a stray cat!

His family moved house. Just pissed off and left him. I've seen him around over the last few months and threw him a few bits of ham the other week... then all of a sudden in Tesco a box of Whiskas and a bowl just flew into the trolley. Magic. So now I'm feeding him. He's not letting me stroke him yet but he's coming closer... he's been sat on my doorstep for the last two hours wondering if he should adopt me as his owner. I'm tempted to leave the door open so he can come in but I'm wary of fleas. What do I do? Assuming he's in okay health how much does it cost to take responsibility for a cat? If I take him to the vet what will they charge me?!

So lovely to read this with all of the depressing news at the moment. Romeo has chosen his slave. I would not be without my girl cats.

The best cats are the ones that move in with you of their own accord. I suspect they are more grateful.

He looks gorgeous by the way.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 20/04/2020 18:35

He’s scenting you, OP, in order to let other cats know that you belong to him. Grin

NeverYouMind123 · 20/04/2020 18:44

Oh I do belong to him 💕

Aww that's so sweet it took a very long time for my rescue boy to come around I mean he loves us but his so called forever owner put him up for free on Facebook one minute he was in a flat next in a house with three kids and his brothers who he hadnt seen since he moved away from his mom!

I’ve got happy tears. He’s so handsome and I’m so glad he has found you.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 20/04/2020 20:28

He might well have a couple of Feeders on the go there .

Have you asked any of your other neighbours if he's moved in with them and maybe he's playing you all ?

I know you cannot ask now but check and see that anyone else hasn't taken on the role of New Cat Slave .

You could try a paper collar if you can get near him . Or do you have a Next Door App, put a message on there?

He's a lovely looking boy Smile

Oh he's so handsome! Definitely keep him if you can. Is it tragic to say that in the midst of this pandemic, this good news story has made my night?!

NeverYouMind123 · 20/04/2020 21:28

I do wonder where he sleeps at night. Is it absolutely pathetic to admit that if he goes to someone else's house every night I'd actually feel a bit hurt?! 🙈

NeverYou he's probably ducking 'n diving and living on his wits until you came along with the ham.

He's had an Epiphany now and will shed his cocklodger ways Grin

My old cat (female) and the male cat next door (he was 21yo she was 17yo) used to visit each others houses protesting imminent starvation ....but they were little chancers !

Is he neutered do you know ?
