Dcat is 17, one side enlarged kidney, not ate or drank all day, eyes sunk, facaes all over the home when dd got in from school and lethargic and back end stiff as hasn’t had her metacam for her arthritis......
Attempting to do bloods now but didn’t let them even take her temperature....
She appeared fine yesterday 😢
(Battery low but had to say to someone)

Sending positive thoughts to you x

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/01/2020 18:53

On the upside she has the energy to stop them taking her temperature.

UnexpectedItemInTheShaggingAre · 23/01/2020 18:54

Sending love

mycrazytoddler · 23/01/2020 19:10

This was me yesterday, sending love & best wishes 🤞❤

IPokeBadgers · 23/01/2020 19:13

Sending love. It's a tough time when the beloved furbabes start to fail ☹️

Checkmeowt · 23/01/2020 19:59

Fingers crossed for you both! Sending positive thoughts your way!

Bloods came back - she has an infection which has put strain on her kidneys (took her last week for a claw that had gone into her pad - with her arthritis she’s spending loads of time indoors now and I never thought about her claws not wearing down but the vet was very understanding and she said it wouldn’t have been something many people would have immediately thought of but I still felt bad about it) so I’m wondering if the antibiotic injection she had then hadn’t been enough to sort it so I feel really crappy about it all now Sad - worst cat mum ever.
They’re keeping her in for a couple of days and giving IV fluids and antibiotics and also an anti sickness injection.
It feels so strange without her - she’s a pain and shouty (especially at 3am) and does the hokey cokey every minute of the day and night.......and I miss her

You didn’t give her the jab though. Hopefully she’ll perk right up now with the iv.

Keeping paws crossed
For you

Veterinari · 23/01/2020 22:33

If one kidney is enlarged then I'd recommend an X-ray yo checked there aren't any stones in there Thanks

Foslady · 24/01/2020 11:43

Vet rang earlier - she attempted to lick some jelly off her food, and got a bit feisty when they went to look at her leg - taking as good signs

Checkmeowt · 24/01/2020 11:56

Good to hear positive signs 🤞🏻

Gingerkittykat · 24/01/2020 12:55

I'm glad she is improving, amazing ho much you miss them when they are not at home.

Foslady · 24/01/2020 13:35

@Gingerkittycat this morning was awful

  • no one shouting at me for her breakfast/go out/whatever she decides!

Vet rang again. Potassium level still low if now lower despite supplementation, settles but sleepy (although not liking being handled still).
I think I have to prepare myself for the hardest decision of all, don’t I?

Theworldisfullofgs · 24/01/2020 14:23

I'm so sorry.

I think you probably do.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/01/2020 14:44

Oh no, yes I think you need to prepare yourself. This next bit is really painful.

Forestwitch · 24/01/2020 14:46

So sorry OP, but 17 is a good age for a cat Flowers

Toddlerteaplease · 24/01/2020 17:07

Sorry to hear this. I agree it's probably time. 😞

Foslady · 25/01/2020 14:39

The vet agreed there was nothing more we could do at lunchtime. We went to say goodbye and she knew......and was ready to go, she looked like she’d had enough so we let her go whilst telling her we loved her.
I’m heartbroken

Beautiful3 · 25/01/2020 15:12

I'm so sorry. She had 17 wonderful years with you. Sending you hugs Flowers

Yiayoula · 25/01/2020 15:20

You did the kindest thing you could for her , but it was the hardest thing for you. So very sorry. 💐

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/01/2020 15:36

You did what a good owner does. I’m so sorry though, this bit hurts so much & there’s no avoiding it.

Beamur · 25/01/2020 15:39

This bit is always hard. Flowers
