Please help rename our two rescue cats

So here they are! We brought them home approximately 3 hours ago and, after a good explore of the room they are predictably hiding behind the sofa.

Mother cat aged 4 is all-black and dainty, green eyes and incredibly inquisitive. She's been on work surfaces, behind the fridge, nosing in corners and eyed up the washing machine (door firmly shut).

Son is 3, bigger. Almost all black with a very small white spot on his chest. More timid though we are assured he's actually the pushier one for attention dreamies

Currently have terrible names so we need some inspiration please.

My most recent black kittens are Karl and Lenny. I was going to rename them because I thought their names were rubbish - but I never got round to it...

Going by list of names that your DC like, I would be pick James and Sadie.
Jamie and Sadie sounds good together

Oddly enough James and Sadie both came from Ds1.

Ds2 is favouring Toto and Josephine...

Current terrible names are Prince and Belle. Its not that they're really so awful, I just don't like them.

Karl and Lenny are cool and I would have kept them too.

Sorry..I am a bit confused! I didn't know you could rename rescue cats. Ours have kept the (not to our taste)names they had from the rescue and it seems to me they do notice and respond to them. Do cats get used to new names? Are they just responding to my tone of voice rather than the actual name?

@joan12 Cats will answer to all sorts of nicknames ime. Certainly the names they have had in rescue were only given to them a few weeks ago so I don't think there is any attachment there. They will get used to their new names quickly.

Joan we changed one of our cats names. The name she came with didn’t match her colouring at all (it was a black cat name and she’s a tuxedo), she learnt her new name fairly quickly and doesn’t respond to the old one now at all. We got her a year ago tomorrow
