My cats have stopped eating 😢

3 stupid kittens (7 months) been on dry food since weaning. Normally eat well morning and evening. Today they faffed around with breakfast and barely ate any tea. Left it down for a while then tipped it away.

Nothing has changed - just all three seem to have lost their appetite at exactly the same time! Any suggestions please?

Iv had cats go off food when they have had a hair ball but camt see this being case with kittens and all 3 at same time is strange..would they have been fed something to give them a turn and are they drinking?

Babymamamama · 19/11/2019 20:34

They are gorgeous and remind me of lovely pair of brothers I had years ago. No idea why they aren’t eating but hopefully this bumps the thread for you and yours are better soon.

Youngatheart00 · 19/11/2019 20:35

Could you try them on some good quality wet food? Have they had plenty of fluids, could they be dehydrated?

swampytiggaa · 19/11/2019 20:36

They are house cats so don’t pick anything up apart from food given iyswim. Yes they are drinking and playing.

Typically this has happened straight after I stocked up on their food because it was on offer 😂😂😂

Cats get bored, nowt you can do about it. Try a good quality alternative & see how it goes.

swampytiggaa · 19/11/2019 20:38

They seem happy enough in themselves and are weeing and pooing as usual 🤷‍♀️

Ah gorgeous cats, mine two were the same for 2 days last week! The 6 month old had been spayed the week before so I didn’t know if it was something to do with that but then her mum didn’t eat either!
I tempted them with a tin of sardines! Then changed the brand of food and then after 2 days they were back to scoffing whatever they could! Who knows cats confuse me Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 19/11/2019 20:40

They must have seen the package arrive!.

Keep it to one side till they decide they like it again.

swampytiggaa · 19/11/2019 20:44

Well I haven’t got an alternative in the house so will offer them food again in the morning and see what happens.

Even being spayed didn’t put them off their food! Think they may be entering the awkward teen phase...

With my indoor cats l just used to leave dry good down all day. The had a pouch in morning which they much preferred but would graze on the dry when hungry.

teenagetantrums · 19/11/2019 20:48

Food not good

swampytiggaa · 19/11/2019 21:27

I’ve just scrubbed their water bowls out and given them a fresh drink. They are currently being fussed by the kids. I’ll see how they are in the morning 🙂

Ours went off theirs right after they were vaccinated, it seemed to upset their stomachs.

We tried them on some different food for a bit which worked, then we gradually reintroduced the old food (because like you we had stocked up!!).

swampytiggaa · 20/11/2019 08:09

Well they look keen for their food this morning...

They are doing it to keep you on your toes and it worked.

EachandEveryone · 20/11/2019 10:19

Aw they look just like my girl. Will they be going out eventually? Im just trying to picture having three cats 24/7🙂

swampytiggaa · 20/11/2019 12:01

They are currently happy indoors 🙂 might rethink in the spring when we have had chance to cat proof the garden 🙂 we back straight onto a popular dog walking path where dogs are generally off lead so I don’t want it to be too easy for them to get out

I’ve been looking at protectapet this afternoon, doesn’t look too pricey.

Anything to keep them safe.

ifonly4 · 20/11/2019 15:14

Lovely photo - glad they're eating.

Even a cat that drinks well doesn't get nearly enough liquid on a dry diet, so I'd try giving them some wet as well - if they'll have it, it'll provide extra moisture and give them variety.

swampytiggaa · 20/11/2019 19:49

Might get some wet food tomorrow as they have eaten bugger all really today.

Funny that all three stopped at the same time tho!

My both went off whiskas at the same time. I swear they talk to each other and coming up with master plans to keep us on their toes! Where did you get those gorgoeus bowls?

swampytiggaa · 21/11/2019 07:59

Bowls are from b&m or home bargains. Can’t remember which but they were very cheap 🙂

Gave them some food the vet gave me after their lady snip last night. They ate a small amount then nothing. I’ve just put each of them a bowl of dry and I’ll see how much they eat of that today 🙂

They seem lively enough tho bless them

Youngatheart00 · 21/11/2019 08:06

Definitely start them on some wet food too today if you can.

swampytiggaa · 21/11/2019 09:35

Yup I’m off to the shop as soon as I’m dressed 🙂
