Difficult to tell from your photo - possibly some torty patches on her face. Did you know that the kittens in the same litter can have different fathers?

Polkadotdelight · 21/10/2019 20:51

I'd say yes.

gubbsywubbsy · 21/10/2019 20:55

I'd say so

Darksideofthemoon19 · 21/10/2019 21:00

I didn’t know that 😂

What about the grey in front?

DoctorAllcome · 21/10/2019 21:00

I’d say no because tortoiseshell refers to orange markings on a black kitty. That kitty is a black kitty with orange and white markings so would be called a calico.

Darksideofthemoon19 · 21/10/2019 21:02

She’s so beautiful but I’m worried about what Iv read regarding temperament? 😩

I was going to say she looks more calico to me

TheRobinIsBobbingAlong · 21/10/2019 21:05

The back one looks calico. The one in front of it could be a silver tabby if it's a grey colour. Do you have any clearer photos?

ExpletiveDEVILighted · 21/10/2019 21:06

We've got a tortie and she's the most gentle, beautiful girl, definitely not a naughty tortie. I don't think this looks like one TBH.

concernedforthefuture · 21/10/2019 21:07

It's hard to tell from your photo but it looks as though she has white fur? That's not a usual characteristic of a Tortie: they tend to be black and ginger.

DoctorAllcome · 21/10/2019 21:07

What? I had an outdoor calico cat with six toes and she was lovely. She hated being indoors but was very playful and good with my children.

EachandEveryone · 21/10/2019 21:08

What do you mean regarding temperament would that really put you off adopting her? I dont think they are any different to any other moggie. Ihave a tortie. Shes nice.

Namechangeforthiscancershit · 21/10/2019 21:09

I think the temperament thing is an old wives' tale

Are the kittens well socialised etc? That's what matters I think

Oh and very very beautiful of course!

dementedpixie · 21/10/2019 21:10

Torties dont have white so that would make her calico

Beamur · 21/10/2019 21:13

Not all torties/calicos are divas. Don't let that influence your decision too much.
I had one Calico that was a bit of a mare but she'd had a horrible start in life and been very badly treated. Even she ended up a very mellow and affectionate girl once she trusted us. Took a while though.

GerundTheBehemoth · 21/10/2019 21:15

All of the daughters of a mother ginger cat will be tortie (including calico, which is tortie&white) if the father is not also ginger. If both parents are ginger, all their kittens will be ginger.

Wolfiefan · 21/10/2019 21:15

Why are they caged? A private home selling kittens? Avoid if so.
I have two tortie girls. They hate each other. And one is a biting little monster.
If you want to be sure of temperament I would look at an older rescue. Could be just a few months older. Spayed and chipped and obvious temperament.

BertieBotts · 21/10/2019 21:20

We had torties/calico growing up and they really are the most beautiful cats a
nd not at all difficult temperament!

Darksideofthemoon19 · 21/10/2019 21:23

They were caged while new flooring was being fitted. The mum was rescued while pregnant and obviously the kittens weren’t planned.

Wolfiefan · 21/10/2019 21:28

Maybe torties are tarts? Our two came into rescue at just a few weeks old. Rescue suspected the adult pregnant female they took in from the same property was their mother. Sad

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/10/2019 07:16

Calico. Tortoise are black & ginger.

ScreamingCosArgosHaveNoRavens · 22/10/2019 07:18

I have a torby (tabby with tortoiseshell patches) and she has a lovely temperament. Not quite as feisty as the average tabby girl, but still spirited.

OldGrinch · 22/10/2019 07:22

I have a Calico and she's the most beautiful sweet girl and very loving. She has got a strong personality though and she's very mischievous and always up to something. She's 5 now and still very playful and kitten like.
