Cat accidentally ate left out spaghetti bolognese

As per the title. I feel really bad about it but DD had left her plate out in the kitchen and I had fallen asleep before clearing up. She's eaten all of it! Will she be ok? Do I need to take her to the vets? She's normally on dry complete (Applaws).

She will be fine.
May not need much food today 😆

Windydaysuponus · 20/10/2019 11:29

My dcat has eaten birds and mice, assume a bit of leftovers would be OK!!

WaningGibbous · 20/10/2019 11:29

I'd rather have spag bol than cat biscuits Grin

AlexaC · 20/10/2019 11:29

Did it contain onion and/or garlic? Both can be bad for cats. If it did I would think about contacting your vets for advice.

Stopittt79 · 20/10/2019 11:30

Oh good ok, thanks for replying. Yes I've left her usual food out but she might need a light day today Grin

Well it was a M&S equivalent dolmio sauce type thing. It probably had onions and garlic yes Confused

My cat is also a terror for any food left out, so I've been there! I even once caught her licking a frozen chicken nugget!

Phycadelicsilhouette · 20/10/2019 11:37

I don’t think she ate it accidentally Grin
Aside from the joking I’m sure she will be fine. Just keep an eye out for a bad tummy or any sickness and call the vets if you feel concerned.

purplepalace · 20/10/2019 11:38

She'll be fine! Maybe she's Italian?

endofthelinefinally · 20/10/2019 11:39

My cat ate half a chocolate cake with no ill effects whatsoever. Angry

Stopittt79 · 20/10/2019 11:45

Haha yes I realised that saying it was accidental was way off the mark! She really meant to eat it, and looks like she enjoyed it too. Blush

My understanding of onions and garlic is that they're bad for cats and dogs if they're eaten regularly - can cause anaemia iirc. This came to light because of idiot owners routinely giving their pets human food (eg prepared baby food instead of cat food, goodness knows why). I don't believe it's likely to cause an issue as a one-off.

My prediction is that if it was a small amount it will be fine, if it was a lot then she may get an upset tummy. I'd be inclined to confine her to a room with a hard floor and a litter tray for the day.

Stopittt79 · 20/10/2019 11:46

Here she is, looking like butter wouldn't melt!!

If she ate a large amount, I’d put her outside in case of any ‘accidents’. More because of the sheer volume rather than the ingredients.

imaflutteringkite · 20/10/2019 11:48

That's the face of a cat who ate bolognaise and isn't even sorry Grin

walkintheparc · 20/10/2019 11:51

Oh don't be ridiculous of course she will be fine! It's meat, vegetables and pasta... All of that is inside cat food. If it was very oily or rich you might want to watch she doesn't throw it up though.
As others have said, cats generally eat rabbits, birds, mice etc when left to their own devices.

TheGonnagle · 20/10/2019 11:52

Your cat looks full and smug!

Stopittt79 · 20/10/2019 11:55

Ok Smile thanks for the advice! I'm new to being under the claw so wasn't sure

OP posts:
DriftingLeaves · 20/10/2019 11:56

I don't think it was an accident. The cat meant to do it.

Windydaysuponus · 20/10/2019 12:01

Maybe she is trying to tell you your choice of dcat food isn't adequate?

Phycadelicsilhouette · 20/10/2019 12:21

She is beautiful! I wouldn’t worry, just be extra vigilant for 24 hours Smile

ClientListQueen · 20/10/2019 12:22

Mine is obsessed with human food
Porridge, yoghurt, custard, jacket potato (his fave), baked beans, cheese (only strong stuff), tuna pate, scrambled eggs, cabbage... Hmm

Toddlerteaplease · 20/10/2019 12:24

We had a car that loved space Bol. And cheddar loves pasta!

Toddlerteaplease · 20/10/2019 12:25

She is absolutely gorgeous and looks very pleased with life!

AlexaShutUp · 20/10/2019 12:27

Another one who came on to say that I don't think it was accidental. Grin

She is beautiful, OP. Hope she doesn't feel any negative effects.
