Cat accidentally ate left out spaghetti bolognese

As per the title. I feel really bad about it but DD had left her plate out in the kitchen and I had fallen asleep before clearing up. She's eaten all of it! Will she be ok? Do I need to take her to the vets? She's normally on dry complete (Applaws).

My cats favourite foods are garlic bread and chilli Doritos. Obviously we don't feed them to him regularly but I'm a sucker for those eyes and will save him a bit of garlic bread every so often.

He also likes to lick plates clean. Saves on the washing up. WinkGrin

It was not accident it was carefully planned! Grin my cat is a fiend for eating pizza toppings. She leaves the base. Thanks. Hmm she's 8 now and has done it since she was a kitten. They are sneaky bastards!

She is very cute, ooh I bet she enjoyed that bolognese 😋

Fluffycloudland77 · 20/10/2019 12:44

Garlic and onions are toxic to cats, I would b keeping an eye on her.

theSnuffster · 20/10/2019 12:51

We have to hide all food now. Ours have eaten the obvious stuff like leftover chicken that I'd left to cool before refrigerating (I shut the kitchen door to keep them out but someone else let them in.) But also things you'd never expect them to be interested in- one once ate a whole chocolate covered biscuit. Bread is a favourite, especially baguettes. The only time we had an issue with yucky poos was after they ate chicken, but that was because they ate A LOT!

'Cat greedily and purposely ate' would seem more apt to me! I doubt that your cat will come to any harm.

TheWashingMachine · 20/10/2019 13:02

Our cat is a dreadful thief she was ince discovered eating bolognese on the hob. She adores curry and fresh pesto too and always tries to steal these too, we are literally fending her off our plates. It is extremely odd, but she is now 12 and in rude health.

TheWashingMachine · 20/10/2019 13:05

Given her track record, I assume cooked onions and garlic do not have the same effect as raw. Your cat will be fine.

BeBraveAndBeKind · 20/10/2019 13:08

Cats just love a bit of opportunistic sneak thievery! Ours steal chips and, randomly, lettuce among other things.

Perunatop · 20/10/2019 13:09

I love the concept of 'accidentally eating'. I feel sure it was actually quite deliberate on the cat's part. When you think about what cats pinch from bins and bags out of doors I doubt if there is anything to worry about.

Thanks everyone! She is very happily snoozing now Halo

Our cat loves Marmite.

I have left my toast unattended once then went to take a bite and wondered why it smelly fishy and all the Marnie was gone luckily I cottoned on before I ate any 🤢

As a kid we had rats get into our house they got increasingly clever at avoiding being poisoned or trapped we finally got them with spag bol in the trap they just couldn't resist it Grin

I've caught our cat licking around the lid of the slow cooker before. And he'll happily eat lasagne just like Garfield Grin although it's mainly licking the cheese sauce off the pasta sheets.

My friends cat eats peas and all sorts. He had to go on a diet after she'd done baby led weaning. She'd lock him out of the kitchen at meal times but he'd be throwing himself at the door then rush in and gobble every thing he could get to.

Oh yeah I've done that, mine prefers butter and marmalade though Grin
